manual trans = 5 spd + 3 pedals (cluch) :)

There's no way to tell just by the year if it's manual or automatic. the only way is with the pedals as dam2009 mentionned. The difference between them is that the manual you will have shifter of 1 to 5, Reverse and neutral, you need to shift to different gears to get your car going. An automatic on the other hand, you have Park, reverse, neutral, drive, and probably 2 and 1. The transmission will shift gears for you. So bottom line is automatic you put it in drive and press the gas and your off, manual, you got to take care of gears and clutch. Some people like the ease of automatic and some like the fun of manual, it's up to you...<P>Also Manuals tend to be a little more performant, beacause it's 5 speed instead of 4. I guess it's because of gear ratios...<P>Hope this helps ;)
