well hello, i am new here.. and i jsut had a car stolen and burnt and i think i want to buy a Mx-3 next.. iw as wondering if u guyscould tell me problem spots to look for, and ask about.. liek wat is a common break down etc.. and also, is there 2 diff engines or what.. id otn know much about these cars.. thanks.. i jsut in general need info on wat to look for when i go shopping.. thanks<BR>kendal

the automatic transmissions are pretty bad. they work, but not for long.(~80K miles)<P>ppl have problems with cv joints going out quicker than usual for whatever reason<P>sometimes they are maintaince hogs, and sometimes they are fine.(i baby mine, but it still broke down alot on me at first)<P>they're a great car. if you get the v6, you'll have enought power to build from to make you happy, or stil be happy with stock power. they are small little cars, so don't expect too much room in the back for adults.<P>engines- 4cyl SOHC- 88hp 1992-1993<BR> 4cyl DOHC- 105hp 1994-1996<BR> <BR> 6cyl- 135hp 1992-1996<P>swaps- 4cyl->4cyl B6T and BPT(both turboed)<BR> 6cyl->6cyl KLO3 and KLZE<P>RS- 4-banger<BR>GS- V6<p>[ May 26, 2002: Message edited by: -=deathtrap-mx3=- ]

thanks alot!!, its an auto.. r u saying ALL autos are bad?, and the engines ticking..how major is this?

DON'T GET THE AUTOMATIC! i had 1, and at 30,000 miles i had to rebuild the trans for $1,200. i've heard so many horror stories involved with the mx-3 auto tranny. sure, you may not have problems but i've heard so many ppl having a problem w/them. it's also a lot slower than the manual. heck, my manual Escort GT smokes my old auto MX-3 GS. the auto will leave you wanting more.

I have an Automatic Transmission with 122 000 km on it and it run fine's.. I never had problem with it!! I love manual transmission better but this one is automatic.. But it's not a shitmatic.. I don't know why people Alway talk s--- about it.. you have manual and you everybody say mazda automatic transmission sux.. ?? I don't know. But mine is in really good shape! <P>my 2 cents

Yeah man ... I have an ATX on my '92 Rs with 235k on it ... no problems with the tranny yet ... knock on wood ... but who knows ... HAHA ... cheers

right now i want a nice, reliable car .. im 16 and cant afford to make it fast neways... if i wanted a fast car i woulda bought what i jsut had stolen from me, and done sweet s--- to it and i could been runnin 13's... but i need a car better on gas, and a nice lookin oen jsut liek the MX3's it looks liek all thats around here is autos, so i thinkt hats what i will buy.. ive heard more good storied then bad... Yah man know where you are coming from. I'm also looking for a mx-3 in regina. To Many auto's and even more 4 cylnders, (not that there is anything wrong with them). I'm looking for a 94 gs with sunroof, 5 spd and mabe a few options.Anybody selling!! Have not seen anything that I have fell in love with yet. There is a new car in the papper today it's a 92 mabe you want to check it out man. Good luck mabe when you get your car and I get mine and all the other mx-3 in the city can meet somewhere and show the j body's we can start a club to!

Yah! thats the way my luck works all rigtht. I will probably end up buying from out of province, not much in sk. for sale anyways. Oh well it will be worth it for my dream car. "life is a Highway, I want to drive it all night long!"
