Stock pipe, or Wider exhaust pipe better?

ok guys, i was wondering if i make my exhaust pipe wider... will it make it better? like 2.25 wider? or better Stock? Because a good friend of mine told me if i open it up i could lose back end pressure. is that true? help me out please thanks.....

if you don't have a substantial increase in air coming in, you'll have no need for a bigger exhaust.

So your saying if i aint got no headers why make it bigger? see all i got is an intake.. but i thought maybe making it wider it would be better

on an mx-3, an exaust pipe of 2" is recomended(alway mandrel-bent), unless you have a turbo or nitrous.
