can u swap a '93 5-speed transmission in to a '94 automatic?? and vice versa?? i heard the '93 and '94 engines are different. is this true?? i need help--PLEASE!!

putting a 5 speed in place of an automatic is possible but can get expensive unless you have all the parts you need already. from 93 to 94 the engines are the same given the fact that they are both 4 cyl or both 6 cyl. it would involve alot of work to; mount a clutch pedal this would involve changing the other pedals as well, running a hydraulic clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder not to mention if the pcm would control the engine differently(probably not but it's worth checking out), shift linkages, wiring(differences with reverse light switches) this is not the whole list but i hope this helps, jamie

thanks for the info.. one more thing tho.. the car im getting the tranny from is a 93 sohc. and my car is a 94 dohc. would that make a difference. thanks

no ,they have the same bell housing bolt pattern. it will fit

rememeber the AT has another ATCU and the manual doesnt. So this could cause some issues. My friend and I swapped his v6 MX-3 AT for a manual and it took us a while. I will be doing my conversion soon enough.
