First of all damn the MX3 is one hot car. Secondly for my first car is this a good choice and should i go with auto or manual. There aren't many around my area that are selling used. Theres a 1993 Mazda MX3 5 spd, or a 1993 Mazda MX3 GS auto, both used which one would be a better deal oh and price wise is about $6000 canadian.

Is the 5 speed a V6? If so, get that over the Auto, definately! MX3 was my first car, i got it about a year ago and it's an auto V6. It's pretty slow as an auto. I'm currently saving up to switch it to a 5 speed before I put a KL-ZE in it. Good luck.

Hmm...I resent that! My mazda MX-3 is a black 94 auto and it's had not trouble what so ever. "She"..mines's a she, has raced many street races and has one most of them..except for a couple (mustang, supra, haha...a viper.) Seriously, the auto is really great and the tranny hasn't had any problem..just take care of it and get it checked up regularly and you will have a perfect, up to date, new car basically.
Ohh well, I still want a DAMN manual, I will just have to wait till I see one that I actually like...that's a rare thing to happen.
Keep on MX'ing, later!

the only thing I can say is be patient and find yourself a nice 5-spd MX-3 GS (V6). After driving both an RS auto and 5-spd RS and now have my GS Special Edition 5-spd I can say that the 5-spd V6 is the best of all of them. The 5-spd 4 cyl aint that bad just lacks the power of the GS.

it depends on if you plan to swap out the motor. if you are going to keep it pretty much stock, try to find a v6 manual. i have a 5spd 4cyl but i'm doing a swap. personally, i prefer 4cyls with a turbo setup..it's just a matter of opinion.
