DONT USE UPS

Hey, time for a rant.

If you are shipping from the US to CANADA, dont use UPS.

I just got a package sent and now I have to pay $60.00 CDN for "brokerage fees" for a $40.00 distributor.

I knew that this would happen, I had wanted to have it shipped to my sister in detroit and she would re-mail it to me from windsor canada to save me this fee but she went to greece for 5 weeks.


If you have to send something accross the boarder, just send it Through US post Air mail.


DONT USE UPS!!!!

Does that happen all the time, or was there a specific problem with that package?

no it happens all the time with UPS.
but not with US post if you tell them its a gift (you may have to fill out a form)

but with UPS you have to pay a "brokerage fee", I didnt have any customs charges or taxes, just the "Brokerage Fee"

I have recived 3 US post air mailed packages, (they were magazines from e-bay) and I had to pay nothing.

But UPS BENT ME OVER and now I have to get stiches to stop the bleeding.

welcome to the club, $190.00 worth of fees for a $89.00 set of springs. purolator is also pretty bad, 30 buck for a 25 dollor video card, they pick it up at the border if it is sent usps express post with no contact to the customer, they were going to take me to collections baecause i refused to pay. i ended up paying though, dont want them to screw up my credit history for such a small amount.

That is good to know. Can you use USPS Global priority, or does it have to be Airmail? Does it matter if it express or not? I never sent anything across the border, but I have to this week, and I don't want to put anybody out.

ups are the worst to import things to Canada...I got ripped off many times now...90$ for 160$ springs and 96 for my 180$ manifold

2 of my magazines were shipped USPS air mail, they have a green customs-cn 22 sticker, 1 was marked gift, one was marked merchandise. I paid nothing.

1 was shipped USPS global priority mail, with the same green customs-cn 22 sticker and marked merchandise, I paid nothing.

You should be fine as long as you don't put insurance on it. And put it as a gift, and not a sold item. They charge fees for insured items and sold items too. I found this out awhile ago. Priority mail is cheaper, but there's less tracking info.

Yeah i shipped curt's disty way back in january, but the address was wrong to his sisters, so it was returned. I finally went to staples to pick up the returned package and the a$shole at the counter convinced me that shipping UPS to canada would be "cheaper" than the USPS.

True it was only $12.30 instead of $16.75, but he even told me they wouldn't charge curt any custom's fee's if I labeled it as a gift. BULLSH%T apparently!

I DO HAVE TO pay UPS a "Brokerage" fee.

brokerage fee is your taxes, when a package cross the border some one was to pay taxes on it and since your not there to do that ups (or what ever company) pays the tax and charges you that plus a fee for doing all that. The last report i saw ups was charging the highest fee.

I paid the mony and got my part, on the invoice this is what it lists.

total value for duty. 133.10
GST 19.97
BROKERAGE FEE 37.55
BROKERAGE FEE GST 2.63
= 60.15


SO WHAT HAPPEND IS THIS

SOME ONE GAVE UPS A VALUE FOR THE ITEM BEING SHIPPED AS 133.10 SO I HAD TO PAY.


I only paid like $50.00 for the damn disty.
and now I open the box and 1 terminal is broken off the disty cap!

any one have a distributor cap for a 2.5L J-spec KL-ZE?
