hi , just a little poll to see if it's my engine that's hungry for oil or if it's general for all mx-3<BR> my 92 gs v6 uses about 3/4 pint of oil every 5000 km ans up to a full liter in winter, sometimes more if I push it realy hard for a while!<BR>how much does yours use in 5000 km or like 3000 mils(between every oil change)<P>p.s. keep in mind that I only add oil to keep my oil level fo full( wich is what i'm supposed to do anyways, so this p.s. is useless, eh eh) [img]shrug.gif"%20border="0[/img]

i think i use way too much oil. since oct/01 till now, feb/02 i have added 4 litres to the engine. it does not have a leak and it does not burn oil. where it goes is a guess on my part. now, to be fair, i have a remote start and it runs for at least 10 min. every morning and then again after work. i believe this may be contributing to the problem.

I think this is a common thing with the MX-3, I've heard this story a lot over the past few years.<P>I have the same problem myself, no obvious leak or indication I am burning oil but the oil level will slowly drop over time and I have to end up adding in some more oil.<P>*shrugs*

My '92 leaks oil.

My MX has no leaks but I've had to add about 3.5 ltrs within 7000 km. I use synthetic so I do a full change about every 10000. I dont know where the oil goes?? [img]shrug.gif"%20border="0[/img]

you're brave man, 10 000 km is a lot between oil change, i usually change it between every 4500 km or 5000 km

4 cylinders, changed oil at 4000-4500 kms. never add oil. I love my Sohc!

Yeah my car goes through about a litre every 5000 kms

I have never noticed my engine needing any oil at all. Just do my regular oil changes around 7000Km using Synthetic oil.

I think the problem is mostly with v6 models.

I have the same losing oil problem, need to add oil in every few 100km. is that the common problem with V6. have any protental problem with losing oil without leak>????<P>THX

I have the v6. When I was using conventional 10w30 I burned about 1L every 5000k. Now I put AMSOIL Series 2000 0w30 racing oil in and it is still at the full mark after 4000k. I LOVE THIS STUFF!!!!!!

i use about 1.5l every 5000km in teh winter and about 2l during the summer! auto-x and track days and me beating on the car 24/7 eats oil
