Well, I know, Mitmaks, that you're a painter, so I respect your opinion.
However, I would NEVER prime a car under such conditions. Sanding or not, dust under the primer still means spots were the primer doesn't stick to the metal, and buildup that, when sanded down, can break the primer surface, leaving a way in for moisture.

This morning I was able to get some pics of them sanding down the primer. I could not go back, though, as they were painting it and nobody was allowed in the paint booth. So the next pics you will see are of the finished product.

I would think that they cleaned surface before priming it.

I would remove handles, mirrors, mouldings, gaskets when painting. You don't want dirt in those crevices and you also get better coverage on edges.

idk if the handles were removed, but mirrors were.

I think these pics show all. One of them shows the part they buffed out, compared to the part they didn't.

Almost done

Car's looking good man, congrats! I'm hoping to get mine into the body shop this coming week.

I've gotta agree with Inodoro though. The reason you use a down-draft (or whatever) spray-booth is to keep the dust/dirt particles off the car. If those particles are getting under the primer, then what's the point of painting in the booth?

Yeah, Mitmaks, you say that you'd think they'd clean the car off before priming, but that's like saying you'd think they'd clean the car before painting. If it's not in a booth for either one, there's gonna be airbourne particles landing on the car.

Personally, I'm getting my car painted at a hole-in-the-wall body shop with no down-draft spray booth. But I don't care at this point. It will be a big improvement regardless. Once I'm done university (this year), I can give it the paint treatment it deserves.

Will be taking more pics later today, but I dd go by this morning. Here is what is left to do:

Paint the door jambs
Install new weatherstripping (for the driver side)
re-install tail lights, spoiler, and mirrors
cut out for the marker lights, install them
clean up windows, and interior

So they told me it will be done tomorrow at 11 AM.

Do you mind me asking what you paid? This is about the same level of disassembly/assembly and repair work as I will have so I’m just curious what it cost you.
