He has a sohc B6, and he said he just wants it as an economy car. Either way, unless he decides to go turbo, he doesnt need a jdm trans, just a normal one will be fine if it ends up being a problem too.

ok houston, we've got a problem!!!

when i pulled off the tranny, the clutch was STILL GOOD!

which made me go :? :? :?

so i put the tranny on the ground, reattached the axles and had a buddy hold em in place. i rotated the input shaft by hand, put it in gear, and it MOVED!!!!! you could hear it skipping/jumping inside.

the question i have now is: What cars do i need to be looking for in the junkyard that have a tranny that i can use??? i will need to go today....HELP PLZ!!

Either an mx3 or 323 tranny will work, just use the axles you have now.

Look in the engine bay. If it resembles yours, take the tranny. All will work, the range is massive. 89-98, I think. for 323/protege... plus many more non-mazdas...

well when the car was all together, the slipping was in all gears, and then when i sat in down and rotated it by hand, i'm starting to think it's the teeth on the input shaft.

i called a trans shop today and they said just to tear it apart and look at it would be $100....then if it is the shaft, that would be plus the parts and labor...

would it be cheaper just to go pull a trans out of a junker?

I agree. However, be ready to pull more than one, make sure you inspect them carefully, and, most importantly, GET THE WARRANTY!

ok i found a good tranny (no homo  )

called up a few junk yards and found a donor car. car as a whole has 107k miles. they're charging me $250 to pull the tranny and the give me radio. not too bad considering where im at, one of the biggest rip off towns in america.

i'm still going to put the new clutch in. should be cruising by sunday :D

Congratulations.
$250 if they pull it out is not bad at all, and with a radio on top... good find!

Ok so wtf.

i pay for the tranny last thursday and the swear it'll be ready for pickup on friday....well it wasnt. then they said latest saturday. never got a call. and their closed sunday.

then i call this morning and 'theyre still pulling it'......right?

then i call today after work and they are, yet, STILL pulling it.

i've been waiting since last thursday to put the damn thing in and they're just jerking me around. they SWEAR it will be ready for pickup tmrw at 10 am.

what do i do? demand some of the money back? this is bulls---!

Call them, and tell them you'll be there tomorrow 10 a.m. to either pick up your tranny or get a refund.
Tomorrow, go there. If they don't have the tranny, and they refuse to refund you, call the police.

You definitely have a lot more patience then me. I would've gone there and gotten either the tranny or the money back on Friday.

Well, in my case, whether I'm in a hurry or not it's irrelevant. I believe in responsibility. I DEMMAND responsibility.
So, if you make a commitment and you don't keep it, we already have a problem, but in your second date I WILL be there, no phone calls, and you will either deliver as promised or lose me as a customer.
