The little turbo does wonders for the miata experience.
I was reading a while back when I was and a buddy was looking into it, apparently it's better to turbo the N/A late 90's Miata's than to tune/run the MazdaSpeed

I'm not that tall Kris and I found it a little clostrophobic in the Miata. I don't think I could own one.

I'm trying to line up a test drive of a private sale 07' speed3. Still waiting to hear from the Scion dealer.

the 99 had the bp4w, solid lifters, better head, than the later models. they changed that on the 00's and higher, but mazdaspeed went back to the 99's bp4w in the 04 speed. Wyt, I'm 5'8, so... short stuff here :(

have you considered a subie, wyt?

I have thought about Subaru. The one I want is so expensive and they just feel a little too...common...now. There are 2 sti's in my building and I need to be a little different.

I would love to have a little turbo diesel... but they don't import them to here. I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

Its a bummer they don't import them here. They should, I'm sure they'd sell.
:sadwavey: c'mon Mazda, help us out!!

Not current 'rides', but current projects: 88 Jeep Cherokee 4.0 4wd, 87 RX7 N/A (needing Crankshaft Position Sensor and Fuel Pump, respectively). Started new job today, hope to throw some money at both of em soon.

I'm diggin the FR-S as well, looking forward to seeing one in person!

My WRX is same as my other cars, maybe it depends on your driving record. :dunno:

wyt, buy a WRX and upgrade the turbo, injectors and go stage 2 on the exhaust. :2thumbsup: All wheel drive rocks.

Exactly, I hear that there's not much difference between a WRX and an STI. It's not like you'd be getting an RS

To bad you aren't in BC. Last weekend one of our local autocross clubs had an event that was sponsored by Scion. They brought out 2 of the new FR-S, stuck R-comps on one of them. I believe everyone who ran at the event got 1 run in each of the cars.

June 22 - 24th Scion is also going to be present at the BC Championships autocross event here locally. On sunday all the competitors of the event are going to be given a chance to take an FR-S out for run on course.

From the sounds of things the Scion leaves things to be desired when it comes to power and throttle response. But over all handling is pretty impressive.

I drove the Subaru BRZ that we had at work a few weeks back.. You are right about power. For what the car is, you'd think it'd have some grunt to it, but ALL the power is at the top of the rpm range IMO. Definitely don't have to worry about roasting the tires everywhere you go, lol.

overall:
style- yes
handling- ??? (didn't get to do anything fancy with it since it was pre-sold)
power- needs turrrrrrbo

and it's pretty much STi or nothing
This is spot on.
I hear that there's not much difference between a WRX and an STI.
Just a 6 speed transmission that won't break as easily as the crappy 5 speed WRX
one. Did I mention the WRX factory tune is junk...

If they are charging you a premium for the type of car you drive its time to find
a new insurance company.
