I figured that pic might grab some emotion.

The truth is I had two and the new owner had his own when he picked up mine. So, that day at the house we went from 2 to 3 for about 2 hours, and then there was one....after the buyer drove away with the "slow" car.

We HAD to take the pic because, well, you know....how often are three of these in one place???? Oh - and two have ZE's....

Hey - we saved two. The "slow" car didn't run when we got it - was trailered to the house...needed some electrical work and the "fast" one had a dead K8 - also trailered to the house, that morphed into the ZE....so....technically we did "save" them for "us"!!!

But...aren't you the guy who wanted the Craigslist one!!!???? So you are a "savior" also!!!

So....boring update on the car since it was completed this summer. We've got over 4,000 miles on the conversion and all is great. Love the power and torque and even the exhaust note.

We are losing a slight amount of brake fluid and, as the car is driven everyday in beautiful, warm, sunny, Detroit suburbia, oh...wait, cold, gloomy, snowy, salt-infested, Detroit suburbia, we haven't pinpointed the slight leak. Lost about 20mm of fluid in 4000 miles so not really worried. We do have a front broken spring in the perch so no biggy, but we'll be looking for a pair of good front springs in the...ahem....spring.

The starter does like to spin really slow with the high compression at low temps - but we are "certified" to 0 F so far this winter with no issues. No pictures, embarassed to show what it looks like right now...

About 11,000 miles on conversion!!! Replaced front brakes and hub bearings. In the process of doing the RR corner brake and hub. Nothing else to report (thankfully).

Get this - for the dad's out there...last month my daughter took her driving test in it and passed!!!! She's driving it now!!!

Good to hear that your setup is still workng out with no issues. A testament to ppl that buy the proper parts and spend the time to install them well.

Quick update since it's been forever since I posted...almost 20,000 miles on the conversion to the ZE. Chassis has about 155,000 miles on it. Only weird thing that has happened is I developed a leak at the oil pressure sender. I think the oil change place knocked it when I was forced to go there right before a long drive. $8 later (and what a pain to do on-vehicle) it was dry again.

A little more rust is becoming apparent in the driver's side wheel well and at the bottom of and forward of the passenger side wheel, desperately needs a full bath, clearcoat occasionally peels off in chunks every now and then, but nothing major for a daily driver!!

Nothing else to report!!! Daughter drives the car daily. I think she likes knowing she's got one of the fastest (sleeper) cars in the parking lot at high school but she behaves herself.

I'm told...

Well, as all good stories must include a tragedy, this one also. Daughter was in a fender bender in the rain yesterday and customized the front end after the guy in front of her stopped short. Looks remarkably recoverable, however and she is totally fine. Luckily the car submarined under because if I can get the radiator support back upright and pull the fenders inboard about 1/4" then all we need is a hood, radiator, and headlights and we should be good to go.

Image

Bumper looks a bit rough but is structurally sound as is all metal structure except for the radiator support. Here's what it looks like underhood - couldn't find the shop light - do NOT tell my wife I used a lamp from the living room (and if you guys have never done THAT then you are lying)!!!

Radiator is trashed and the fans were crushed by the OBX headers but the engine and exhaust are totally fine. We were able to drive the car home watching the remaining coolant stream out on the 0.8 mile trip home. Engine was still cold as she was just leaving for school in the morning.

After simple metal bending and removing the radiator we are now back to this:

So - we are now ready to start gathering parts. I think the hood has been bent back to the point where it is ugly but it will latch once everything is back together but I will be looking for one if it doesn't remotely work. Other than that, I need a radiator with the fans and headlights. See you on the WTB section!!! PM me if you have anything I need!!!

I'm sorry to see the wreck, glad your daughter was ok! I had an almost indentical accident in my race car and I was able to fix everything without taking it to a body shop.
