I hate to be serious but ------ isn't it the thing where u can hook up a baby strap for the baby seat in the back seat? or a leash? or whatever your into............ 8)

It is whatever you want it to be. It is my guess that Mazda used it during production. It is not for a baby seat cause that didn't come out untill way after 92, and the baby seat belt strap is much different and uses a hook not a bolt hole.

I think its if you spill something or fill your trunk up with water or mud from your spare tire you can pull the plug and let it out or let it breathe if it stinks??? IMO

in the owners manual for the 1993 it says its for the baby seat

well the one is for the bolt to hold ur tire down the other may be for the car seat also, not sure on that one though cant recall the location
