I think Vicious means you have to use the K8 ECU with a VAF, not a MAF.

Its a fallacy that an ECU from a larger engine will provide more fuel in a given situation. The fuel delivery depends on the measured airflow, not the engine displacement.

If you use an airflow measurement device for which the ECU is not calibrated, it won't provide the correct amount of fuel.

what would be the best ecu/vaf to go with?

If i put the millenia IM on my kfze without portmatching will i still see much of a gain? or would i just be better off with the klde manifold?

klde manifold would be better choice you can distrupt air flow by making it hit from a bigger port to a smaller

You'd want to get a KLDE phenolic spacer set and use a dremel to flare it from DE runner shape on one end to ZE runner shape on the opther side.

One other thing to consider: apparently, the 2.0L and 2.5L V6 motors available in some models of the Suzuki Vitara/Chevrolet Tracker was based on the K-series motors. I am 99% sure they use the same bore and stroke, and quite likely the same block/head castings, as these are the most expensive parts for a manufacturer to have tooling made for.

As a result, there may be some degree of parts compatibility (E.G. head gaskets, piston rings, water pumps) between those motors and ours. The VERY good thing about that, if it is the case, is that Suzuki still sold vehicles with that motor here in North America until last year (the 2003 model year - they have moved up to a 2.5L this year), so parts should be plentiful!

Anyone with a KF rebuild underway willing to see if some Suzuki parts will fit?

Where did u get that info. Ford owns mazda by a large percentage, I dont believe they would share engine platforms with their major competitor...

I also checked the input on the head side of my KFZE and the runner opening on a KLDE Intake mani, the KLDE is slightly bigger by a few milometers. Its actually better to disrupt the airflow in that direction as opposed to the runners being smaller than the head side.

Doing a little research, the 2.0L in a tracker was a 4cl.
A 127-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine

the v6 was a 2.5L, but not the Mazda motor. It only had 155 hp as well.

Thats not a mazda v6.

That is incorrect (at least for Suzuki). I used to work for a Suzuki dealer - the 2.0L V6 sold in some 4-door Sidekick/Vitaras and 4-Door Trackers is definitely K-series based, at least mechanically.

The FI and other engine electronics are different, as is (obviously) the intake, the valve covers and several other ancillary bits, but the block and its internals are, supposedly, based on the Mazda K-Series, and in fact may be identical.

The difference in HP between the 2.5L in the Vitara and the K-series can be attributed to different cams, different FI and intake, etc.

yup, i've read that too. KFDE's i think are available state-side, not sure of their power rating.

I am not sure what years they came in the suzukis...i believe it was the newer "grand vitara" models, not the old sidekicks which had G-series 4cyl suzuki motors (which are actually pretty damn good)

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe there was one year when the four-door Vitara (Sidekick) was available with the KF-based 2.0L V6 - it was kind of a transitional year for Suzuki, when they first brought the Vitara nameplate to North America. After that, it was available only in the Grand Vitara, which has now gone to a 2.5L for the 2004 model year.

I believe the power rating on the 2.0L was 135 hp or so, with about 130 ft-lbs of torque. It did have a non-ZE-like compression ratio of 9.5:1, so again, the difference in power was probably due to differences in exhaust, intake, FI and other electronics.
