And if you do decide to enclose the speakers, use Medium Density Fiberboard. (MDF) NOT OAK.

If enclosures we so important do you not think Infinity, Alpine, Sony, etc. would include them with the speakers? Of course they would! Enclosures are aftermarket stuff for speakers...

Ok, well let me clear up one thing from before. NEVER go off of Max ratings. ONLY RMS ones. I am sure a legacy amp might hit 1000watts someday but for 99% of its life it will put out about 100-200 watts RMS. RMS ratings are really all that matter. Max #'s were put there more by marketing to get more sales.
Also about the fuse think of it this way. Lets say that somehow the wire gets cought on the gas petal and sparks. No fuse is there to keep the wire from melting and catching fire. With a fuse within a foot or 2 from the battery the fuse will blow and you car will not catch on fire. Thats why.

Wouldnt you say that the sound better WITH one? Gee ya think maybe infinity, Alpine, Sony, Etc sell them WITHOUT enclosures do to the fact that do fit some STOCK cars that would not require enclosures.
Here's atest for you, take a 6 1/2 speaker out and play it in your hand, then put it in the door, tell me which one sounds richer.
I, like most of the people which have posted on this thread, have been trying to HELP you with your sound selection. 20 posts by myself later you seem to be starting to act a tad pompous to put it lightly, so i'll stop wasting my time and let you figure out on your own, considering in one weeks time you went from not knowing the basics to knowing advanced sound dynamics.

Ok, also on the 6x9 subject. Those speakers are IB(infinite baffle)which is free air. It can go without an enclosure without causing harm to the speaker.
Yes it will sound better if the top is seperate from the bottom. Like making the back deck part where it encloses the truck area.
As far as the comment about if enclosures were so important they would be included would be false. You see the manufactures expect you that have an enclosure already. When you put speakers in the car do you put them on a stick? No, you have door panels that have one side aimed inside the car and the other side(back) going into the door. When you but 6x9's they expect you are putting it in a back deck that has the trunk sealed. Most cars that have back seats that can drop have a baffle on the rear speakers.

First off, no speaker by itself is IB. You have to create the IB. You sould have said "6x9's respond to low frequencies, so they will sound better with an IB" In this case Zy's 6x9's are on a cargo cover without a baffle, and the low wave is mixing with the high wave, which nearly cancels the low wave. Thats why I'm saying he should get an enclosure.

Well I almost agree with the beginning but the way you say this is pretty much the same as you create sealed and ported enclosures. You create it but it is really a weird way ofputting it. I mean the only unmentioned style of enclosue is "Speaker on a stick".

I always make mine, it's not that hard. Unless you don't have the neccessities. But I never buy anything but decks at big stores. I always go to the small businesses, because not only are you getting a good product, but the personel know so much more than anybody at a big corporation. Plus they will probobly know which box is the best, and tell you the best place for your speakers.
