Did that come apart that clean, or did you clean it up after? :o

That's a clean engine, what're the original miles? I soaked some cylinder heads(VT was removed) in de-greaser for 2 days and yanked them out, they came out looking brand new. I wish the rest of the engine was so easy to clean!

Valvecovers alone take a good amount of time in the blast cabinet.

Good work, I can't wait to see where you take this!

The engine seems quite low milage, there wasn't much sludge buildup in the engine... but I've been cleaning a lot of it as well... It is a quite clean engine! This is what it looked like before I touched it with any solvent

Then again, I've had my hands in the engine bay every week for years now, and only driven it a handful of miles, so that helps too

Well it's definitely pretty clean, I'd estimate 60,000-90,000 miles for the heads, so you're doing something right! :D

Those ValveCovers honestly don't look like metal, what kind of paint was used on them? They remind me of the newer Plastic shielded IMs honestly

Slow going. I got my valve spring compressor today, but I stayed up too late last night, woke up too late today, didn't have much time to work on the engine. I was able to remove the springs though.

I am having a blast with this. Usually I have the heads taken to a shop to replace the stem seals and all... Learning this myself is just incredible.

Oops, speaking of which, I forgot to order some stem seals... BRB!

Nice!!

What type of compressor did you end up buying? I snagged a Craftsman model from Sears, cut a deep well socket(notched it) to remove the keepers, and went to town on my heads. The reason for the modification was that they only had an OHV ValveSpring compressor in stock at the time.

It's coming along though, nice!!
