Re: UK Sam's 1.6 Turbo MX-3 project
the whole turbo conversion eh? On an OBDII? maybe, but it would be done with junk yard parts/ knock-offs and it would not have a decent tune. Or last for that matter. You cannot boost your car correctly for the price of k-sport coilovers.youdirtyfox wrote:you serious man!? I could do my whole turbo conversion for the price of them
There is a large difference from what "can" be done and what "should" be done.

Re: UK Sam's 1.6 Turbo MX-3 project
big brake kit, not coilovers!
wich by my reckoning is around 800 pounds.
I alre3ady: a 323 mani and baffled sump wich was 5 pounds.
a vj-11 in good condition wich was 100 pounds.
330cc injectors 20 pounds.
mr2 IC 20 pounds.
all alu thin wall boost pipes we have lying around at work;)
rubber elbows off scrapyard boosted motors were 20 pounds.
still need a clutch 200 pounds
oil line 20
cooland pipe fittings 20
smaller rad 20 pounds from the breakers
and management 300 pounds if i can buy second hand.
might even get a tune up and just tip 800.
One of my freinds boosted his b6 miata with a second hand full turbo kit wich
was 500 quid second hand and that was 100% reliable for 3 years and 25K miles
so im sorry but you are wrong on this occasion! I can do it for the price of some 800 pound brakes , using no knock offs and be reliable!

Re: UK Sam's 1.6 Turbo MX-3 project
Ar I see why you said i need the k-sport big brake kit now.
They are not K-sports though, but XYZ super sport coilovers.
http://www.xyz-racing.com/coilover1.php
They are very plush, i love 'em. quite stiff, but not bouncy or harsh
at all, this is my daily driver car so I have them on the softest setting
at the moment -80mm, they will lower to 120mm though.
cornering has just become in another league

XYZ are lesser known in USA/Canada.
and are not related to k-sport in any way. They are similar in design, but not the same

Re: UK Sam's 1.6 Turbo MX-3 project
Ok so winter project no.1 will be those rear lights as above
Have cut out 8 x 100mm roundels in vinyl using
a scalpel and metal blank as a guide, to use as
spray masks, so I can paint the existing lights using
plastic primer, satin black and then a final coat of
high gloss laqceur, also managed to cut some 100mm
roundels of flyeye, so I may tint the lights afterwards
except for the reflectors!
Winter project no. 2 involves paint matching to my car a pair
of projector headlights (buying soon as boss came through with a good bonus!) and no.3 getting a second hand bumper
to modify, as below
bonnet louvres will be stamped in just before the turbo goes in

Re: UK Sam's 1.6 Turbo MX-3 project
yeah probably not!
You can buy these sort of things though:
http://www.easychinasupply.com/productt ... 07020.html
would give the same effect, dont know how legal they are though?
