Thanks guys, I'm trying. Times have been difficult lately, but with any luck, I'll be able to (re) start working in the car soon enough...
Night shade: thank you...you little brat...

Ok, after all this time, a little update.
A couple of months ago, a "friend" (at least that's what I thought he was at the time) asked me to repair his car, which had died on him, and had the rear suspension shot.
Being that I knew the repair would take some time, I made the BIG MISTAKE of letting him use my baby, while I got his car running, after repeatedly asking him to drive it carefully, not only because I hadn't had a chance to give it a thorough inspection and tune up, but also because the license plate belongs to another friend, and the car is uninsured (since I wasn't intending to put it on the street in the first place).
Long story short, a couple of weeks later, my friend (the tag's owner) came to me with a TICKET, due to this A-HOLE running a red light, with MY CAR, under a STREET CAMERA.
So I took the car from him, only to realize that now, the engine that before was purring like a little kitten, is making a very loud, very nasty clanking noise. My guess is this idiot spun a rod bearing.
So, I've been waiting since, trying to get a job to fix my baby, but now, being that the situation is getting really bad, I'm gonna be obligated to sell it as it is.
Moral of the story: NEVER let anybody borrow your car. EVER!!!
Sorry guys for the rant. I needed to vent before I end up killing someone...

Talk about a terrible situation. Did you at least kick his a--? make him apologize? pay the ticket?

Are you sure it's not the HLAs? It might just be low on oil. Vid?

Hmmm, no, I didn't kick his a$$. I'm dying to,but I didn't. But yes, he had to pay the ticket, or else my reaction would've been much different.
For a moment there I hoped it was the HLA's, but no. The engine is topped up with synthetic. The sound comes from the bottom...
Anyways, it doesn't matter. Either way, I just don't have the money to fix it.
I hate to sell it, cause I know I will probably never come across a deal like this one, but, like you Americans say, it is what it is...

Dude I'm really sorry to hear that, I hate hearing stories like that. That's exactly the reason why nobody drives my MX-3 but me. All the problems start to happen when you get multiple drivers, and then nobody takes responsibility. Do try to stay on the bright side though, you'll get back in the game sooner or later, and there will be more good deals!

Thank you. You can bet, from now on, NOBODY is driving my car (that is, if and when I get to finally own a
working car).
Meanwhile, life sucks right now, but I'm trying not to lose hope.
If everything goes as planned, I will put my car on sale, maybe tomorrow. I also have all my tools for sale. If I sell both the tools and the car, I'm getting the hell outa Miami, moving to Charlotte, NC. Let's see if I can get a fresh start over there.
And, of course, ASAP, I'm getting an MX-3...

So I started disassembling, thinking I was gonna have to take the intake manifold out, and then, when I took out the air filter box, I saw that the a-holes that engineered the engine put a PLASTIC QUICK CONNECT between the thermostat housing and the heater hose!!!
Didn't any of those geniuses realized that a plastic quick connect that carries hot coolant, and is in a part of the engine that receives no airflow, IS BOUND TO CRACK?
i just cleaned my egr and broke the quick connect from the return coolant line coming from the firewall. what did you do to get the hose back on? did you just replace the quick connector? i tried just putting the hose back on the metal pipe but its too big.

That quick connector is a PITA!!!
But, IIRC, the metal pipe is exactly the same size as the quick connector (and therefore, as the hose).
Anyways, in case I may be wrong (wouldn't be the first time), you can go to an auto part store and buy an adapter (they have them in plastic and metal. I recommend metal.) and a short length of hose.
Sorry I didn't take a pic at the time...

I was too pissed off...

Ok, time to revive a 3 year old dead thread, to bring what, at least to me, is VERY SAD NEWS.
My old baby, my dearly beloved M-Edition, has been totaled.
That car was, as far as everybody knows, the ONLY white M-Edition left in the U.S., maybe in the World. And now it's just a pile of rubble. And the guy who bought it from me doesn't mind, because he already got another car...
So, I guess that's it. My hopes of eventually recovering my baby are gone for good. That'll teach me for selling it to somebody who didn't give a damn about her.

All red taillights.

And on THAT specific car.
Everything stock, including most of the paint.

No, I had to sell the car in 2010. But I kept in contact with the buyer through FB.
But I thought a member of the MX-6 forum would have had a little more respect for the car he came to own...
As far as parting it out, when I had the car, I went to Mazda to buy the FGS's, and asked the guy how much would a new driver's seat be. He said "you have to bring us the car's title, so we can VERIFY it's an M-Edition. If it is, each seat is $2000.
