godofnopants wrote:Since I can't post in the for sale thread, I'm posting this here.

I'm cutting my losses with this car and selling it to make enough to cover tuition, since with the money I spent to get the car road-worthy sapped my college funds.

The car had $600 worth of work done to it to make it pass safety (and they welded some things instead of replacing). Plus, the car was given to me with a battery that couldn't hold a charge, so that got replaced too. Not a huge expense, but an expense nonetheless.

The safety is still valid, and the e-test is still good too. The car is basically ready to be paid for and brought immediately to the mto for registration.

Selling for what I paid for it, I'll eat the money I spent to get it road-ready.

$1500, pm or e-mail. E-mail is preferred.

I'll post this in the FS forum if my account gets permission to.

This is why you cannot post.

Though I appreciate the 30 post rule, I think my situation might waver from the norm a little bit.

I registered to be able to contact Jeff about his car, now I want to sell it using the same medium. I don't have threads that I can post enough in to reach 30, nor do I think you guys would want +1 postcount posts scattered all over the place in an attempt to unlock myself from posting in the sales thread. A little leaway concerning this would be appreciated, if possible.

As for those people who've been posting that they don't see $1000 worth of repairs to be done, there were a few things concerning the list:

-It was a worst-case scenario estimate (as in nothing could be welded and every single part needed to be replaced) by the head mechanic at the shop, because I wanted to prepare myself for it, being on a student's budget.
-I didn't list everything on the estimate, just a few of the larger things
-The total repairs ended up coming to $600 taxes in, and the mechanic waived the $75 inspection fee. He appreciated the financial situation I was in and tried to cut me as many breaks as possible, which was great.

That being said, $600+ a new battery is very very close to what my part-time tuition was, and I used that money for the repairs, so now I can't pay for my semester. Obviously if I get a paycheque or two, I'll be able to cover it. But I can't see into the future and don't want to take anything for granted, so I want to make sure I have my education covered barring some kind of financial disaster/getting fired from work, or other things that could prevent me from paying for school if I keep my money invested in the car.

OMFG! This is one of the funniest and dumbest things ever. Should this not be linked to the body building forums.

There is so much wrong here I don't want to get into it. As a credit to Jeff: I have the SRD rear lower tie bar of that very car. Jeff polished it up like new before he would even ship it out. If this were to go to some sort of BS court. I'll fly out there to show the other end of the spcetrum.

The student card! Sweet. It is a free pass for whatever ales you. I think I might sign up for one of those infomercials.. you know.. learn at home for a better career... those ones. Then I'll be able to say. "But I'm a student."

The balls you must have to b!tch about the man that made all this you see before you. Afterwards walk into the Churchs', mosques (SP?) and temples in your area and trash their gods and beliefs.

You sir, win the douchebag of the year award... and it's only f'n January.

PS. Can I buy the car off of you? I'm sure you'll be a better seller than a buyer.

edit due to language.

Enough with the cracks about tuition. Everyone's financial situation is different, and these days, with the market the way it is, everyone needs to be careful.

Back to the topic of this thread, Mike, I am sincerely sorry that the purchase of my former MX-3 did not work out for you. I had really hoped it would go to someone who was willing and able to let it live a longer life then I was able to give it. I still stand by my words that I was honest with you in everything I told you about the condition of the car. I will not get into any detail as it sounds like you are moving on, and would like to put this behind you.

As a gesture of good will, I have granted you access to the For Sale Forum on this site. As Barry has made you aware, the rules are a minimum of 30 posts, before being able to post in most cases. I have waived this rule and given you the access you requested.

I hope you are able to find a buyer for the MX-3 quickly, and hope you are able to put this transaction behind you. Who knows maybe you will find another MX-3, that better suits your needs and budget. If so, you are always welcome back to this MX-3 community, to learn and to share your knowledge of the great automobile that an MX-3 can be.

Regards,

This kid needed cheap car to go to school. He bought Jeff's car and then complained about it being "broken". He went and spent money on it which he didn't have, supposedly :crying: Now he's trying to sell it....why? Why don't you keep it and have a reliable, cheap transportation to go to school/work, etc.

I'm also confused as to why he's selling.

He paid for it, got it fixed, for someone else to drive?

Why not just drive it now that you got it road worthy? :?

Obviously tuition isn't my only school-related expense here. But that's the nuts & bolts of why I'm trying to sell the car. Better safe than sorry.

Why is this thread still continuing again? :?:

We all know the car is for sale and he needs the money now. Maybe realized he got in over his head financially. Now he wants out.

Please, just sell the car and be done with it man. Otherwise, let us help you fix it and save money. :)
