if you machine the part for it to fit yea a rx7 can fit on a Miata

ether way you would not have thought about that.. that every one here thinks if it does not bult up that it wont work..

i was asking about the gears in any case

its only stupid if you dont think of ways around the problem

I'm not sure what you're asking. The bell housing from the miata will fit, but unless you entirely recreate the drivetrain for RWD, an FWD car has no use for a RWD tranny.

If the gears inside interchange or not, that I don't know. I'm not even sure where you'd find the specs.

I am looking into motor swapping im my mx3. Originally I was planning on a bp motor than turboing it later but recently at the wrecking yard I have found and done a little research on the escort third gen motors. The zetec vct motors seem to be better more efficient motors than the b series. From what I have found online they use g5m transmissions still. So, can I just bolt that in or what. Hahaha. I don’t know if the mounts are the same or anything. The wheelbase is still the same distance so it would seem that everything should go right in.

I don't think thats ever been tried. Go for it.

All I know about the Zetec motors is they made a 1.9L to replace the BP, and it made less power :?

yeah they made a 2.0l zetec they put in a lot of their cars and in the escorts. put out 130 hp and got in the low 30s for fuel mileage. esentialy not a lot of dif performance wise that the bp it would seem but has more potential i think. they made the h/o verson excort zetec 2.0l that did almost 150 hp. ill look into it a little more. my curiositys is weather or not the zetec is a sturdy motor for building hi boost too and long term motor life. this winter we build my mx3 to mid engine rear wheel. should be exiting.

My head just exploded.

On a vaguely related side note...htis weekend I grabbed a shifter assembly from an RS and tried to stick it in my GS. It looked exactly the same when I compared them but on closer inspection, the little universal swivelly bit that bolts to the shift shaft (the 3rd link) on the RS is offset to one side so although everything is the same length and the shift linkage and stabilizer bar are the same shape, it doesn't bolt up because the 3rd link interferes with the rear tranny mount. I did swap the GS shift linkage arm onto the RS stabilizer assembly and use it that way successfully. It was the stabilizer assembly I was after anyway.

does the Protege 91-'94 DX have a g series transmission ?
i know the 1991-1994 Mazda Protege DX ---motor will swap but will the trans swap with it

G15M-R trans can i still bolt up a bp to it this is the motor it has on it RF-MDT
or would a F5M-R trans work better the the stock one or is it a f series as well?

found it on here

No, the DX Proteges of that body style all have an F series gearbox. Only the twin cam LX Protege's have a G series.

The G15M-R is only for the Mazda 3's and there is no interchangeable parts with the BP's, KL's, or B6 trans.

BTW, the heading "transmissions", should be changed to "transaxles". :D ...unless we are talking about rear wheel drive cars.

But your average noob doesn't know what a transaxle is.

Then again, most noobs don't search... so... valid point.
