we fabed hinges that look almost identical to thoes. i want to see the fenders on and see the hinge swing out and see the shock clear the fender without too many mods. really i could care less how they work with them off its with the fenders on is what counts.

No problem.

we ended up not doing the lamb doors, we couldent get the hinges to clear the fender properly. we modified the door, fenders, and the front end to try and make them fit, looks like thoes are a little slimmer, but i would still like to see them with the OEM fenders in place.

Hey,

To answer your question yes, these will be for sale to the public within a few months after the group buy.

Also, I will perhaps talk to you about a CNC Laser Jarid as I would love to hear about the companies you know about.

Also, I will have video soon of the kit with the fender on. You are correct though, because of the shape of the MX-3's front fender, the kit had to be designed so that it would swing out horizontally enough so that when the door goes up, it does not hit the fender. We have solved this problem with our design, and people will not have to worry about the door hitting the fenders. Having a slim hinge design is key, as you need to get lots of horizontal clearance for when the kit goes vertical.

Thanks,
Kyle Wesley

Here is an update to when I will be getting the first kit to try out.

Hey Jarid,

It will be going out this week, we are just waiting for the revised parts and as soon as they come in, the kit will be shipping out. Because of the shape of the fender, we needed a unique kit to clear the fender and it took quite the engineering. I apologize for the delays, but we wanted to make sure this kit works flawlessly.

As to when "this week" actually is I would guess he means by Friday....not Tuesday.

Hey if you guys have the training to run a laser, and know where to get business, you can probably keep it busy by doing side jobs for folks that need stuff CNC cut. So could be a real good investment in the long run (always nice if you can get someone else to pay for part of the cost of your gear)

Unfortunately since my car cannot be economically repaired (by myself anyway) I'm out of the group buy. But after 14 years as a MX-3 owner I'm still following this with some interest to see how it works out.

I'm sure the MX-3 isn't the only car out there with skinny fenders, so this design might well come in handy on other cars.

I'd not be suprised btw if the cost of the hings after group buy is higher than for the GB.. we're getting a quantity discount and such. So if you have the money to get in now, you might want to talk to Jarid and see if that is still possible.. (I opened up one spot when I was forced to pull out, but it is already filled)

I'd consider a set of lambos for my new Mazda3, but the wife has insisted on no modding of the car till the warranty is up.. (although I'm probably going to try to sneak a mazdaspeed CAI past her "but it's made by mazda" , I think that's about as far as I can get)
{sigh} Time to move on
Out with the old: Tropical Emerald MX-3 GSR (KL-DE)
In with the new: Phantom Blue Mazda3s GT

Might have another group buy.....if there is enough interest.

while you are creating that video, could you show one of the door opening 45 degrees horizontal?

i'm sure people would like this feature if they are going to let someone drive the car who is not familiar with these hinges. last thing we want is someone screwing these up because they forced the door open past the horizontal limit.

Hey,

As for doing side jobs when we purchase a laser, that is the plan, as a Laser is VERY expensive and we would need to do side jobs for the first while to help keep costs down, but that will not be a problem as lasers are very versatile.

As for the skinny fender, yes this was one of the problems, but the main problem is that the top of the fender where it connects to the pillars, archs back towards the rear of the car which makes it had for the door to clear, however we figured out how to clear that so these kits work great.

Also, if you you ever want Lambo Doors for your Mazda3, just let us know.

As Jarid said, if there is enough interest, we would be happy to set up another group buy. Things will move faster for the next group buy as the kits will already be designed.

And Lastly, I will get a video of the door opening 45 degrees so that people can see that in action as well.

Thanks,
Kyle Wesley

doors look great can't wait to see them with the fender on to get that finished look.

I would love a set but it will have to wait since i'm not quite done with my bp and awd swap plus i ordered a set of custom projectors for my mx-3 and that will cost another 200-400... but you'll be hearing from me eventually

Hey,

I apologize for the delays, however the delays were caused because we TOTALLY revised the kit to allow it to function and install flawlessly.

Also, the delays were caused because we are sending Jarid a production model Kit, and not a prototype kit, so the kit he will be receiving, is the same kit you will be receiving which will allow a better review of it.

The kit will be shipping either on Friday or the Following Monday, depending on the time we receive the revised parts tomorrow.

Thanks again everyone for your patience,
Kyle Wesley
