500 rpms did not cause ur motor to go to s---. and changing 500 rpms earlier will not make as much of a difference on prolonging ur engine life, unless u were shifting ever gear at 7500. and where ppl are getting 8000 rpms is either a different motor or ECU could even be chipped. plus the higher ur rpms get the more inaccurate ur tach is my old probe gt could hit 8 grand on the tach but everyone knows thats not accurate, and y i never hit fuel cut. ive been driving this mx3 since i was 16. as it was my parents and when i lost the probe i bought it off them as it had a blown tranny at the same time my probe went off the road. so for 5 years the mx has gone from 80000kms to 210000 not one problem with the engine. Ive been racing it since 16 and shifting just under rev-limiter at 6700. i dont even take my foot off the gas between 1st to 2nd shifts and hold all the others thru redline too.

thats good dude. but, there is a huge difference in the motor you have and in the motors we have, all motors are different and each motor has different capabilities.... reguardless of what you say ... there is no way you can argue that, i drove my k8 like there was no tommorow, i even squeezed a 75 shot nitrous on it one time and nothing happend but just because it was okay to do it on that motor with out problems does not mean i can do it on the ze with out problems too....you get what im trying to say??? just get on the v6 forum one of these dayz that you got time and look at what happens to ZE's as a result of over reving.

well hgallegos915,
i've been readin like crazy on probetalk the last couple of weeks about building up KL engines....
Its not that the ZE retainers are weaker its actually in how they made the valve springs... causes a burr at the end of the spring and that digs into the valve retainer and eventually breaks the retainer...it can happen any time at any rpm...if its gonna go its gonna go...but you can simply round the end of the springs off with a die grinder and put them back in as long as the retainers are still in good condition
this was all in the kl31 cammed engines
SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND
http://videos.streetfire.net/category/M ... 1c52ba.htm
9400 RPM WITH A ZE ....with cams and retainers and valve springs and EMS ...and he's makin power up there
he has ITB on his ZE now and makin 230 hp

you guys are right, i have been shifting at 7000 rpms when drag and so far the engine is good, i do have hla tick. If the engine blows ill just get another one.. im not rich but bleh im not gonna hold off on my ze just because im scared of blowing her.. as long as i dont go over 7000 rpms it should be ok. I heard supposebly kl31 cammed zes are more notorious for this... but well she drives fine i guess.

IMO you shouldn't be revvin to 7000 unless your in 1st gear second i shift at like 65-6800 .... and never more than 6500 in 3rd fourth i like to touch 7000 rpm sometimes any half smart person can feell the power droppin off ...and your just doin smore damge than anything but in first gear i use my old foot revlimiter and let it dance around at 7500 once in a while
when it comes to drag racing theres a different shift point for each gear
i'm pretty good at tellin when its time to shift

But it your that cconcerned with gettin the perfect shift and can't tell for yoursellf i would get one of the new g-tech pro's ..you can set up a sequential shift light that tells you when your at your peak power in each gear
