Present owner
1993 Mazda MX-3 GS V6 1.8L 5Speed. I just bought it in November and she had 297000km on it at the time. I have managed to grind the gears pretty good while trying to figure out stick but have gotten better, so now I save the coin to fix that mess I have made. I will wait til the hubby figures out stick too. Thanks!!!
Proud owner of a 92 Tropical Emerald GS. got it back around 94, bought at a repro/lease return auction. Picked it up for almost exactly the wholesale bluebook price. (I think around $12K at the time).
Had it ever since.
Blew/Broke/Bent something in the motor at some point in 99, and knew nothing of motor swaps at the time. Dealers and others quoted me like $2K just for cost of a 'new' K8 motor. Picked up a new Protoge as a 'reliable family car', and set the MX aside till I could afford to fix it.
Year or two later found out about KL swaps, started researching it, and saving money to buy a KL engine and pay for the swap. Got enough saved up, and just as I had enough, lost my job.. that became 'emergency money'.. which is good thing, things were tough in tech market at that time and it took a while to find a new job. That pattern repeated for a few years.. seriously, every time I had the funds, lost the job for one reason or another. I was cursed!
Last time it happened, in late 94, my wife (bless her soul) just said 'fix the dammed car and break the curse'. So found a cheap KL motor from a probe-GT guy in Canada who was putting in a KLZE, got the motor, towed the car down to Corksport, and had them do the swap. Good thing too, since there was a small tiny hard to find 'issue' (pin on a timing gear) that was causing it to only run on the front bank.. would have been hell to find if I'd been doing the work myself.. As it was, took corksport guys a good bit of time to locate the problem.
So am now proud owner of a 'GSR' which goes like a bat out hades compared to the stock GS.

Very proud to say that I own two mx3s. They are both identical (92 GS, 5 spd, red), the only difference is about 100,000 miles lol
one has 223,000 miles on original motor and still drives with no problem

yup just bought one, wanted one since 1998 when i was old enough to drive now finally got one as a 2nd car.
owned 2 other mazdas - mx-6s .. and loved every minute of it ... unfortunately rust + too much torque claimed the frame of the car.

Past and present owner
This past August, I picked up a great deal on an mx-3 for $400! She's a 1994 GS stock that needs some suspension and brake work. It's in my garage currently awaiting her new engine and manual tranny swap. The first car I ever owned was a 1992 GS, tropical emerald back in 2001 but had to sell it bc of financial responsibilities. Now the dream is back and in black! The plan is to have her with a 2.5L ZE, 5spd, repainted with pearlescent black, and custom tuned to handle forced induction (turbo). Very excited.
'94 MX3 GS (black)-- 2.5L DE w/ straight neck IM, SSAC Headers, KYB-GR2's, Intrax Springs, CM Stage I clutch, OBX STS, filled front & rear mounts, CAI- SOLD
