Re: NEW RIMS AaronTietje - 1993 MX3 GS
Big brakes on the mx3 are about impossible so I decided to go a different rout. 5Lug swap.
The 5lug swap in the front will allow me to use the big brake set up that I have.
Unfortunately, rota was out of the 5lug rims that I needed.
So, after selling the rotas I decided to go with the VARRSTOEN T1.

Re: NEW RIMS AaronTietje - 1993 MX3 GS
There both 16x8's the 4 lug rears have an et of 15 and the front 5lugs have an et of 25. The big brake setup that I have for the front uses a .5inch rotor-hat that amounts to about +5mm over stock. So, when all is said and done the front will appear to have an offset of +20 in relation to the fender.youdirtyfox wrote:Do like them, what size yo get?

It's essentially the old PMO brake setup that they had for the 2nd gen probes.DeadMaker wrote:Which combi brakes are you going to use?
I have three sets of the custom brackets as pictured if anyone is interested in putting together their own set.

Re: NEW RIMS AaronTietje - 1993 MX3 GS
I found an old video with my much littler helper. I don't have any good pics of my mx3 from before but you can see it in the background..... I actually did drive the thing once upon a time.

Re: ROOF AaronTietje - 1993 MX3 GS
I finally got some time to put the "new to my car" roof on. Originally my plan was the do this process to a carbon roof but waiting for 750+ for material and the time to do it would have most likely pushed my car to next summer.
Anywho, here are the pics of the install.
First you cut out the roof panel and remove the structural member.

![Image](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w47/AaronTietje/011-2.jpg)
Next I had to cut out the excess framing in the existing roof to accept the structural member.

![Image](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w47/AaronTietje/015-7.jpg)
After that, the surfaces needed to be prepped for a good bond.

Glue, position, and apply pressure.

Re: ROOF AaronTietje - 1993 MX3 GS

Re: ROOF AaronTietje - 1993 MX3 GS
Getting rid of the moonroof saves weight and lowers your center of gravity. The motor and framing is quite heavy in mx-3's. ![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

Re: ROOF AaronTietje - 1993 MX3 GS
Is the panel bonding cement snadable when it dries or do you have to somehow remove the excess before painting the roof?

Re: ROOF AaronTietje - 1993 MX3 GS
I made sure I got the sandable/finishable/paintable type. Norton now makes a panel bonder that does not harden in oxygen. I didn't want that type because I knew that I would have to finish the edges.wytbishop wrote:Is the panel bonding cement snadable when it dries or do you have to somehow remove the excess before painting the roof?
