matts 94 mx-3 gs build. MOARRRRR GOODIES
Re: matts 94 mx-3 gs build. MOARRRRR GOODIES
just got a good call, my buddy works at a local transmission shop and i've been waiting for him to give me the word to drop my trans off. so tomorrow i'll be dropping off the mx6 trans and msp lsd to begin the trans upgrade, open the case and clean and replace seals as well as the lsd install. if theres time they are gonna clean the case for me so i can spray it black prior to install.
now gotta decide on a clutch and get it ordered up.

From the rear, our cars look almost identical! Aside from the towhook and mufflers, they pretty much are!
Great minds think alike, yeah?
I need to bolt on my wraparound... Hmm.

Re: matts 94 mx-3 gs build. MOARRRRR GOODIES
my suspension is finished, when i first installed my gc's and struts it was amazing but a few months ago i started to notice i was started that i was rubbing more and more and its got progressively worse as well as bottoming out easier as well.
my front end is wandering terribly, inner tie rods are sloppy and i noticed a lil play in the right outer a few weeks ago when i had it up for an oil change, i've had vibration above 105km/h for well over a year and now i'm starting to feel it over 70km/h.
i think my right outer cv shaft is pooched again as well and the wheel bearing has gotten louder over the last year. i know that the entire steering assembly is original as i do have the complete service history(best gift i ever recieved lol)
i finally recieved all my shifter bushings from twm so i need to find a day to replace my third link bushings and and grind down the flange thats interfering with my short shifter causing quite a vibration.
i'm hoping i can pick up some control arm bushings in the next week or so, if so i'll order some rx7 bj's and make one last big day before winter.
i need to get the spare rack rebuilt and drop the subframe so i can replace the rack and broken rear motor mount. i'm waiting to hear back on whether or not my lsd is salvageable, the mx6 trans i picked up a year ago got water in it and was told it would be a few hours labor to tear it down and probably a good idea to replace all the bearing and syncro's. he said that everything moves smoothly but the fact that water got in had him worried how long it would stay smooth.
he didnt get to test fitting the lsd so not sure on the amount of machining that needs to be done to clear everything nicely.
if i can get it all rebuilt for under 300 bucks i'll find a way to buy a new clutch kit, trying talk the semi retired tech at my work to do me a favor and help me replace the trans and clutch, if that works i'll replace the rack, reverse the idler and delete all the shitty p/s crap.
hopefully all that plus the shifter rebuild and poly bushings will bring this almost 20 year old back to life cuz right now she is no fun to drive.

Re: matts 94 mx-3 gs build. MOARRRRR GOODIES
so one of the local board members has a set of wytbushingsfor sale, but he wont budge on a price of $300. i understand that that was the price he purchased for and doesnt wanna lose money but he's sold the car so unless he sells them to someone he's technically out $300 or just purchased a bunch of poly paperweights.
so with that i've decided with all the energy suspension writeups everywhere i'd see if i can put together a full set of ES bushings.
i do have a few questions and need a lil reassurance before i pull the trigger because my supplier will not let me return these once i've picked them up.
so i believe i have a lot of it summed up but i'm not sure.
front control arm bushings
4.3152R
DO I NEED TO ORDER 1 or 2 of these?
front sway bar bushings.
i dont know if our stock bar is 22mm or 24mm so if someone could tell me that would be great or i'll just measure the next time i have it in the air.
22mm es part#9.5126R
24mm es part#9.5128R
rear sway bar
9.5124R
TTL bushings 9.9108 x4

so i pulled the trigger and put in a bushing order.
rear ttl bushings x4

next pay i have no choice but to replace the inner and out tie rods on the existing rack, its no fun to drive and i feel like its gonna leave me stranded any time now.
also picked up a pair of front lca's to rebuild off the car so when the time comes its a bolt on affair, gonna go with rx7 ball joints and i've got a set of bumpstops that are hopefully going to work although i think my struts are cooked.
heres to hoping a nice set of coilovers pops up for the right price but theres no rush for the time being.

i also finally decided on a coolant overflow and went with a moroso unit.
http://www.moroso.com/catalog/categoryd ... 0&pt=63657
was less then $40 with the mounting bracket, was the shortest height i could find in a decent overflow.
and i can throw a couple coats of the colorshift on it to add some pop under the hood.

Re: matts 94 mx-3 gs build. MOARRRRR GOODIES
I'll get to it eventually!!
I have to drill my hatch, repair one of the mounting points on the actual spoiler, and then chalkboard the spoiler.

Re: matts 94 mx-3 gs build. MOARRRRR GOODIES
if all goes smoothly the front suspension rebuild will cost me about $350-400 cdn.
thats wheel bearings, inner and outer tie rods, rx7 ball joints, sway bar bushings, extra control arms, shock boots, bump stops and the energy bushings.

Re: matts 94 mx-3 gs build. MOARRRRR GOODIES
got my overflow tank from moroso today, not sure how much i like it but it is definetly a step up from the factory hunker.
