no they're the same, just different head gaskets

A local pull a part has a full engine for 120-140 dollars, and 56 dollars for a transmission for any 4 cyl.

whichever works best for you though!

Hmmm, I'll have to go back then and read the Miata forums and find out what SOHC B6 block they are using. *Throws Fists in the air and drops to knees like the guy in Platoon* "Whyyyy!!!!!????"

at any rate, the 93 is getting a BPT no matter how you look at it. I'm keeping a B6 in my 94 but the with BPT in my 93 I definitely wont be going home... :)

now I"m confused! Ar eyou doing a head swap on your parts car or a bp?!

Isn't there a compression difference between the sohc block and dohc? the b6DE has 9.1:1 compression.

Anyways, the money you spend on a head probably would be the same for a full engine is what most of us say.

I see your game, man! Stop trying to confuse me!! lolol

I am DEFINITELY doing a BPT in my parts car, yes. But there is no sense in wasting the B6 block. I will bolt it up to my engine stand and rebuild it with a Miata B6 head. Then, excluding all of the stuff I said before, I will drop it in my 94. It already has everything there for the DOHC B6. The parts car will be a complete BP build from the ground up. I'll strip it bare, fix the body, replace fenders... yada yada yada, paint it, rebuild interior, suspension, brake system, exhaust... yada yada yada... You get the idea.

NOOOO! Not the miata head, anything but! Didn't you go through that?

http://www.mx-3.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.ph ... ad#p600711

the only thing you want from the miata is prolly the camshafts!
NO! you cannot use a Miata B6 head gasket on a mx3 B6. the FWD motor has two extra oil passages on the exhaust side of the block, and the miata gasket only covers half of the holes, I think an older B6 out of a 323 might work though. I was the first know person to do the miata cam swap years ago in the MX. worked out great, but you really need adjustable gears to get it perfect. Huge advantage over all other B6's. I was putting down close to 230 in my B6DE with miata cams vj14 hybrid at 12psi. However the Miata BP and the Pro BP head gaskets are interchangable. all other inturnals are compatable
so wouldn't the head have the oil passages as well? mebbe not?

LOLOL. Different year Miata B6 head. One of the earlier years, I can't remember which one at the moment, had the disti on the exhaust side. I actually could have kept that previous engine and just swapped the head... I'm still kicking myself for that one. Don't worry though. I will do an EXTREME amount of research before I buy anything, I promise! lol

Not much to report... Spent all day saturday with my rear bumper off and beating the buckle out of the rear end. Finally got it to where the seams on the hatch and the upper most portion of the bumper cover line up. Found me a bumper at pick n pull in really good shape as well as a broken GS front lip that I'm going to fix with fiberglass this weekend. It will be my first attempt at fiberglass so we will see if I can do it well enough to attempt some custom fit speaker modules for the trunk area.

At any rate, pulled my new visors from the package and guess what?... freaking broken! I was completely upset. Completely ruined my week.

Both sides were cracked and broken in the exact same place. I was so fed up and I am completely at a loss and don't know how to fix them...

To be honest man, I threw all of the stuff away after I opened them and they sat on my bench for a few days before I even looked at them. Just so swamped with work and dealing with the other car. Serves me right for not taking the time like I should have.

Anyway, here's a pic of the front lip and the new bumper. As you can see, I'm quickly running out of space.

Just keep it coming! I like what I'm seeing. Parts from 2 cars coming together, both get to "live on" in a sense!

Okay, so I'm getting back in the groove of things. I'm back to work and the knee is healing awesome.

First misc. project to start was the "hatch key lock delete"

Image

It actually turned out awesome. I screwed up the bondo a few times but after a quick scrape and recasting some new stuff, I finally got it.

Sorry this is such a small update but I'll be adding more soon. Thanks!

Nice shave job on the hatch.
We all want to be fast and look cool. Cool changes but fast never does.
