propel the four-door from zero to 60 in 6.3 seconds on its way to a 14.9 second quarter-mile time at 90 mph.

Balderdash, I've read other write ups that put the car in the high 13s if the drivers knows how to launch. Those wimps in your articles were affraid to dump at higher RPMs I'm guessing anyway. The intent of my post was to see what else you have in that high knee of yours. Now that you've 'voided' don't you feel better.

Pfft, reported specs and stats just aren't good enough compared to your hear-say, eh?
You also said if yourself, IF the drivers knows how to launch, and no old man, lauching isn't at 1000rpms...may need your bifocals to read the tach properly for those.

Thanks john and I'll take a few pics possibly today. It's in real nice shape but not perfect. I have it scheduled to go in for body and paint work on the back quarter panels, one side has a small ding. The front bumper has a crack at the bottom I'll need to fix as well but other than that. Interior is almost perfect. The O2 sensor isn't getting any voltage for preheat so I have to trace that issue back and it needs one head gasket. Now I need to bone-up on the mechanics of this car. Is there an on-line manual any where John. As far as that waving thing goes that's not really me. I will if I have too but I usually won't initiate.

There, happy now.

Another VW thing; the waving! I think Subies are the new flat 4 culture. You can take this idea, too; We would make an interrupt switch for one headlight, so we could wink at eachother on the road.

I know a guy in town here is a big time Subie freak. We spoke a few times before. He has all kinds of parts and likes to Rally race as well. Showed me a few simple mods to increase performance and if I need another low mileage motor, $600

An almost new STi suspension (4 strut assemblies) for $400. He's offered me a few other parts I need so looks like I made a great contact.
