Ordered the KL-36 computer. I am also apparently showing both 02 sensor codes and a knock sensor code.
I don't know which sensors to get for the KLZE. I looked at NGK's site and it looks like 2.5 sensors in general are different than 1.8 sensors.

oem front 234-4143
oem rear 234-4606
denso universal 234-4209 i have these and they work great.

I went with the 2.5l sensors. Had to do a little wiring, but why would someone use the 1.8l sensors?

I used 1.8 as well in my 96 ze and they worked well so best as I can figure 1.8 like 2.5 ZE uses JE50 and same harness. Then again I swapped in a KL02 VAF in my 96 as required and the engine ran even better so what does this mean. How the hell do I know but most I believe use the 1.8 sensors.

Forgive me, but what is a KL02 VAF? And if I need one, where might I look for one?

And JE50 is a term that I'm also unfamiliar with.
Holy crap, this thing smells like it's running rich though.

OK, after investigating, we're talking air flow meters. I should have never "fixed" my perfectly running MX-3.
I'm pretty scared about this now. Incredible $ drain. I'm just hoping to drive my car again.
I appreciate all of the help, but I still wish that somebody with extensive KLZE swap knowledge was in Phoenix.

Yay! I got the KL-36 ECU. I'll be taking it to the shop tomorrow. Fingers are crossed, but I'm nervous.

They put the KL-36 in and apparently the check engine light is off........even for the O2 sensors and the Knock sensor.
Car is still running poorly. It may be gas that has gone bad from sitting too long, plus the fact that the tank is almost empty???????? Gonna put some gas in it tomorrow and run it for a while. Hopefully it clears up and runs right. Might buy some sea breeze and try that.

Yes Sea Breeze is good, might I suggest a double after all you've been through.

Installing the ECU is like a 10 min job we could of talked you through. I suggest you clear the ECU so it can 'learn' your car. Simply remove the neg wire from your battery and then depress the brake pedal for 15 secs. Reconnect the neg to the battery. The ECU is now ready to learn your cars set up. Drive for at least 20 mins to give the computer time to learn. And yes, Sea Foam is a very good idea. Simply remove your PVC hose or brake booster hose (depending on how you have your vacs configured) keep your thumb over the hose or your engine will stall then slowly remove your finger and pour 1/3 of the can in. Once you've done that remove your thumb and stall the motor. Let it sit for 10 mins and start it up (it'll sputter at first) and rev the engine a bit and watch the neighborhood fill with white smoke.

I cleared my nasty neighbor and his company off their front step last time I did mine.
