No the maf is plugged in but there is an additional two wire connector coming off of it that is not plugged into anything. I just checked and I am getting 0 spark. Is my distributor toast? How can I check it?

Just to check if its spinning can I remove the cap or remove the whole disty and look inside to see if it's spinning?

That two pin connector is for the fuel pressure regulator solenoid.
You can just remove the cap, the rotor has to spin too, thats how it works.

Ok I'll test that now. If it spins then the distributor is dead? There are plenty of 626's at a wreckers near me, would that disty work?

I found this connector that looks like it could be another end of the smaller connector from the distributor.
I have no idea where it does go but I think it may never have been connected. The distributor does spin but rather slowly.

If it spins at all its good. Its moving at half engine speed, there are no other options.
If you're sure you aren't getting spark, check the coils, and if the coils check out, new disty time.

That connector does look like it's one from distributor. Make sure all of your electrical connections are plugged in. Also since you've been cranking on it for so long your battery might be low, maybe put it on charger for a few hours.

That connector is not distributor. It looks like VSS or EGR.

Changed the distributor to one from a v6 ford probe and no luck. Still absolutely no spark. How do I check it? Is there any connectors near the bottom distributor connection that the spark could have arcd to and ruined?

Where is the ignition coil and how do I test it?

disty from the junkyard had no reading. My original disty is 1.025 on the primary ignition coil and I can't get a reading from the secondary coil cause this is a slightly different mitsubishi distributor.
EDIT: took apart original disty and am only getting 1.8 when it shud be like ~15? Is there a way to check power to the ignition coil or is there a relay? Otherwise I'll go get another disty.

If you check out the rest of the G section, you'll see the schematic for the disty and what should be getting power... with the key ON of course.

Too bad your not near me, I have like 3 spare disties. Just for sheets and giggles try disconnecting the neg from your battery and press the break pedal for 15secs. I had issues before and had to do that twice to reset the disty. In my case my ZE started up with a real bad miss, only firing on 3clys and the ECU shut down and I got no spark.

I'll grab another disty and try that. But the disconecting the terminal and holding the break for 15 secs didn't do anything. Is there another way to reset the ECU?
