You are risking your life if you drive with this situation.
Obviously there is something wrong with the spring or strut. Why did you took parts for protege?![]()
I know that they fit i had 323 in the past.
Before my oem springs i hade H&R with kyb.One time when i jacked up the car i noticed that the bottom of the rear spring was 1/3 out of the strut positions.
I never heard about progressive springs position but if josh says it he may be right..
Whatever...

a little story i am not too proud of.
A couple of months back when i was installing my new suspension and adjusting the ride height of my new setup. I was lowering the car noticed the spring on the top was out of place. so I went to pop it back in place with my right hand and WHAM!! the spring went in.. BUT it also took about 1/4" x 3" long section of the skin on my finger with it.
So im all by myself in the garage and everyone else is 50 yards a way in the house. So now the car is now too low to jack up. and there is too much skin pinched in the top of the spring to rip it off, and no cell service. Yah not one of my best moments. so after about 5 minutes someone comes out and i am free'd. But yah not my best moment, and I am lucky that it was only that and not the car falling on me.
But thought I would share.
