The one time I've seen the PS fluid flushed.... you suck all you can out with a vacuum pump, and then you can just crank the rack back and forth and turn the pulley by hand. You can just turn it by hand because its a positive displacement type pump and will operate at low speeds, unlike a centrifugal pump, like the water pump.

And just a heads up, power steering fluid is just plain old hydraulic fluid, don't go crazy and get something expensive, I've seen people run straight vegetable oil in there. When mine is low I just throw in whatever is handy... ATF, 5W30, 75W90....

thanks ryan. so by hand is fine? the bearing on the old p/s pump is shut so i'll be replacing with a new power steering pump and going to make sure that all old liquid is out. i bought pennzoil dexron III which are $3.50 per quart here. cheapest they have available.

so on the mount i bought not only are the bolts to far apart its also much skinnier than the mount thats on there. with the new one theres about half an inch on both sides inside the bracket.

pull your plug wires. Pull the plugs too if you want to go easy on your battery.

dmac, I personally wouldn't sweat it if some of the old fluid stays behind... the majority of what you can't reach will be in the rack anyway, so just opening both lines off the pump and turning the wheel lock to lock should evacuate most of it.

burgess, that is strange. I have a PGT front mount on my red KLDE MX. I will go look at it right now. Nope, mine fits fine. Maybe I used the PGT bracket as well. I can't see any harm in just throwing some washers in there. If there is no price difference, just return the mount for the proper one... Seems like the easiest solution. You might also need new nuts for those studs if they're bigger than your current ones.

Pritchett is also correct. Just pull the disty connectors and fuel rail plugs, and spark plugs and crank till your hearts content. I had just assumed you mentioned 'without starting the car' because it wasn't running or assembled or something, oh well.

are you sure washers would hold? seems like thatd be a lot of weight on the bolt that goes through. i know thatd be my best solution as i have no extra funds.

Just doing some rough calcs, the bolt will be entirely within its limits.

I have a really loud and quite annoying metallic screetching/scratching noise coming from my driver side wheel area. I just recently changed the cv axles, and my friend who put the axle nuts on didnt notch them in like youre supposed to, or clamp them down like the old ones were. I was thinking maybe it spun itself loose and is the cause of the noise. Please help

Believe you me, loose wheel nuts will kill wheel bearings very fast. Seen it more than once... My mech puts his full 250 ft lbs of impact on them.

i got the mount on yesterday morning. i have about 8 washers on the drivers side of the mount and 1 on the other. its made quite a difference though i must say. i have another question though do you happen to know what this is in the picture. i have a hose with green it that broke off from somewheres and the only place i noticed was this little hole that air comes out of.

Its a solenoid. Where ish is that? and what do the hoses lead to? I will know what it is, I'm just not sure which one...

i circled the area its in. ill give another look at it tomorrow when it gets light out.
