It's been forever since you updated this! Results!? Pics!? How did it fare against the Celica?

I'm assuming you built the new header for better flow as opposed to just weight reduction?

So you broadsided that yellow car and just keep driving? Did it do much damage to the MX?! I like how you are rolling without a hatch :freak: :D

Man, I wonder just how light you could cut an MX-3 down to... This makes me itch in all the right ways.

Yellow car was a CRX it is done racing... shoved the drivers door right into the seat. Bent his car badly , twisted his frame he was very lucky not to be hurt. I hit him at about 75 miler per hour....Mx-3 still lives.. My front impact bar went under his door bar ,that saved my car, just sheet metal damage. I finished the heat race and ran the main....i didn't do well in the main as my alignment was way out after the crash.... But I was able to compete.

our Celica is really the class of the field... It is a real torque monster

Where the MX-3 shines is in the corners , I can carry more speed into the corners...

Celica is running around 145 hp and Mx-3 is about 90 Hp... Compression test revieled I was down to 70lbs on a couple of cylinders.

But that will change over the winter... I am going to give the tired 1.6l some new life over the winter...

Seems that more and more of these things are seing track action!

Heres mine buzzing around Waterford Hills Raceway

My interior looks about the same though I can gurrantee that your cage looks far superior to mine. Mine looke like it was welded together by a Monkey that just consumed a 64 ounce big gulp of Mountain Dew. The Nascar style door bars in my cage make ingress and egress easier but they dont have the strength of an X brace or some other designs. Its also made out of a really heavy gauge mild steel tube so its heavy as hell.

For those that are curious about what one of these things weigh once gutted my car is a similar level of stripped and with a 175 lb driver weighs in at about 2250 lbs.

That weight is for a 92' RS with most of the interior missing (only a fiberglass MOMO seat, the upper dash pad, HVAC system minus the AC evaporator and the doors gutted) a mostly stock drivetrain (all AC parts deleted, Power Steering to become missing soon as well) with 14X6 Kosei's installed on about 3/4ish tank of fuel.

Unless theres a fuel cell in there i don't see, the OP can probably echo my findings that if your exposing this vehicle's stock fuel system to sustained high lateral G loads you'll starve for fuel at anything under 1/2 tank.

Kepp up the good work and updates!

out of curiousity seeing the mazdaspeed logo on the hood, are you applying for any of the corporate mazda payoffs? All yould need is another set of mazda stickers on your wheel arches!
