Get a multi meter and check resistance of your wires end to end

You should also be OBDII, do you have a check engine light, or a code reader? If not, well worth $200.

if you have a laptop, get an OBD interface for 30 bucks instead.. a little shocked that the handheld readers havent gone down more in price given how cheap the USB readers are

I bought this one, works great. Once you load the software and figure out which comm to use your all set.

Here's what the software looks like. viewtopic.php?f=46&t=65550&hilit=daninski" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

That's scantool. I've heard of it before.
But what interface are you using, and where did you get it?

Thanks for the link. I hadn't seen the scantool screen before. Looks good... :)

I tried to jump TEN and GROUND and turned ignition on, but there was no light at all at the CEL. Wonder why? Any has any link to a reader i can use to the mazda mx-3 v7 1997 model? Handheld or a USB connector to use with an computer?

I have no ide what it can be now, i have decided to try to order a new disty, my type is K834 TOT57171, but i do not know if this will help. Since when i try to crank the engine it does not give ANY sign of that it is trying to start, its only going round and round on the starter..... And the spark is yellow...

If it does spark, don't replace your disty just yet.

If you're getting spark, your timing belt is good too. It may have jumped, but its still intact.

Check your fuel pump...

Turn your key to ON, and open the DIAGNOSIS box under the hood. Jumper F/P and GND and listen for the pump coming on. You should also hear to fuel running past the fuel pressure regulator, you should know for sure if it comes on.

Soft codes won't show, only hard codes.
