2.0 Zetec Swap
Re: 2.0 Zetec Swap
well im really not sure yet. im at the stage of just selecting a motor first than ill go from there. its either b series or zetec. than what size motor. im looking to get to the low 300s and call it good. but most importantly, i want to get best possible mileage and longevity of motor. the smaller motor i use the more turbo compression i will need to meet that point. i understand that tuning and gearing is important in fuel mileage but if i can get 300 horse out of a 1.8 without having to use race fuel than id would like to run that. even better in my own curiosity, can you do it in a 1.6 motor without blowing things up or really shortening the life of the motor. the bottom ends are the same just different boars and strokes. the smaller the displacement though the more boost/compression is going to have to be used to get the same power. so where is my limit.

Re: 2.0 Zetec Swap
i think a zetec swap would be cool. youd probably be one of the first ones to do it which would make it even cooler. i dont really know about bp's or b6's but theres tuns of aftermarket support for the zetec motors. from everything that i read at the time there very durable motors and are very easy to find/cheap if you ever need parts or new motors. the rods, or rod bolts seem to be the weakest link in the motor, but other then that there pretty strong.
this guy's stock internal zetec was making 280whp at 14psi on a daily basis, and 325hp/320tq at 18psi when he cranked it up at the dyno. http://forums.focaljet.com/forced-induc ... ost7084201" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; with this turbo kit http://topspeedperformance.net/store/#e ... uct=802797" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; im sure you could get just as good if not better with a custom setup
theres alot of good information on http://www.teamzx2.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, aswell as alot of other escort forums to help you decide.
there also newer motors used on many different models of cars so finding lower milage motors is probably going to be alot easier then 10-20 year old mazda b-series.
