Ok everyone. I'm sorry to have wasted your time. I took my car up to the guy's house, and was OK with doing everything (less the windshield) for $2500. My baby lives again!

Thanks everyone who wrote in with words of support and encouragement.. you've made a convincing argument. :)

Ya I think I just might make the meet. It depends how long it takes for this guy to do his thing. But it's over a month away, so the odds are good.

Just dropped the car off at the bodywork guy's place. He's already started on it.
