A H2B hatch dont run 11's thats a pile of crap. I know 2 guys in Vernon that have h22 swaps, one JDM and one USDM both bolted and they can MAYBEEEEE get into the 13's. This "friend" of yours must have a empty shell with a car running full coils, race slicks and every bolt on you can get that is not FI.

I don't know why you are upset? Like the others said above it proly corners like crap and sounds like crap too. Don't sweat stuff like that, there are always faster cars out there then yours so just enjoy what you got.

Mod for yourself not for others, thats where you can run into issues.

a straight h22 swap will be in 13's...a h2b swap with a few bolt-ons and drag radials should do 11's
Ya exactly what I said. His specs: H2B all motor 2285 lbs 91 octane - Looks like he has some kind of gnarly intake and full exhaust too.. Plugs and wires are proly there too and he's definitely running coilovers.. He's running a 22" slick, that will get anyones ET down, he wouldnt be in 11's if he was running a street tire

i thought about the mustang or camaro idea...idk tho i'm thinkin more compact car ya know.

yeah well he's done some weight reduction and has slicks for the track...i'm just sayin his engine is na...and that b series tranny hookup (i think its the type r) with that h22 is sick! and a custom intake, and suspension work still allows an engine to be "n/a".

i guess i was posting this for wishful thinking that maybe just maybe mazda had a secret engine that was built specifically to desimate hondas.
and cause i'm tired of hondas...i do pretty much mod for myself. i just hate to see all my work and what i've done and then see him with a simple swap just destroy me. kinda upsetting. i even kicked my mx3...i apologized to it later.

Haha I have been to Cayuga a few times. One time Joe and I were laughing at a Civic boy on the time attack course cause after each turn he downshifted into redline

Sounds like he did more then just drop a motor in.. his car doesn't sound that streetable to me, probably has no interior and is loud as hell. Cop Magnet.

Your car on the other hand can probably go on long trips comfortably, has the interior and you wouldn't be ashamed to take your parents in the car with you without them thinkin' you are an idiot. See where I am going.. Just cause his car is faster doesn't mean its better in the real world and that's the bottom line.

hondas can launch at redline cuz the have no torque :) no torque no wheel spin but they have high rpm power to get er' moving :) torque is useless on a fwd car!

If it were your goal in life, you could build a N/A MX-3 to beat him, but I'm sure you have better goals than that. My car is ridiculously fun, and is nice. I don't need to do 11s to love my driving life. I've got about $4,000 total into the car, and a drag racer could get it into the 13s with it's full leather interior, custom speaker setup, all power options, etc...
A good Autocross driver could beat cars with 10X the $$ into them.
For me, I just enjoy getting from one place to another, and absolutely wouldn't, in a car like that.

go ahead... before u do im not saying any kind amount im talking LOTS of torque... all it does is spin tires lol. but i wont argue over what u say :)

but torque is good if u have slicks and get traction but on normal street tires torque is only good to a point before all u can do is just spin uncontrollably

If the entire point is to play the "anything you can do I can do better" game, rise up to the challenge and make some of your own...for exmaple, let's see him drive past a speed trap going five over...or leaving the car in a bad part of town for ten minutes...
An F-111 was flying escort with a B-52 and generally making a nuisance of himself by flying rolls around the lumbering old bomber. The message for the B-52 crew was, "Anything you can do, I can do better." Not to
be outdone, the bomber pilot announced that he would rise to the challenge, however, the B-52 continued flying straight and level. Perplexed, the fighter pilot asked, "So? What did you do?"
"We just shut down two engines."

Which is exactly the same as with a RWD car. Torque is always good up to a point. Regardless of the car being FWD, RWD or AWD, or having street tires or slicks, there's always a point in which you will start spinning the tires. Your point is moot.

I know why Honda's do it but inside I laugh and see sorry for that motor. Honda motors generate little torque because of their low displacement and short stroke. However the short stroke allowes for very high reving. From the low displacement/short stroke, the only way those motors make decent torque is to rev them to their limit since the torque is made by the fast reciprocating motion of it's internal components. They need to lauch at max rev since that is the peak of their max torque.

Not at all. It's a combination of torque and traction.

FWD has the benefit of having the least drivetrain loss because of it's transaxle layout, but the problem is inertia. As you accelerate, it pushes the weight to the rear of the vehicle and away from the front tires that need traction. Torque is useless because of the issues with putting that torque down to the ground. This becomes more and more of an issue the more power you put down, and if you make enough power, you just lose more, and never can put it all down even when you hit the end of a 1/4 mile. Torque is useless because it's not hard to get to the point there you can't put 100% of the power to the ground the entire race.

AWD of course has the most drivetrain loss, but what it makes up in loss it does by adding twice as many contact patches for traction. Torque on an AWD system is needed for several reasons; 1) overcoming its additional weight compared to the other layouts, 2) to compensate for the extra losses in the drivetrain, 3) having twice as much traction means it needs more torque to actually break the tires loose. Putting down more torque to the ground means a much faster launch. AWD cars usually have crazy hole-shots, however the faster you go, the benefits of the AWD start to dicipate and it's disadvantages such as weight come into play. They're typically a first-half drag car.

RWD sits in the middle for drivetrain losses but has the advantage of being able to be balanced. Although inertia helps to keep traction on the rear wheels, you still only have 2 wheels to put that power to the ground. Harder to launch compared to AWD, but it's lower weight and less losses compared to AWD means that it makes up it's ground in the second half of the race.
