Dammit!
Can you take a picture?

It's been almost 3 years since I had to sell my '92, so I don't quite remember...
I know I always used that manual, and never found any discrepancies with the engine. But then again, I've never had to replace that sensor...

yeah I'll take one. It's kinda dark so it won't be the best but let me get one. Be back in a sec!

Okay these are all around the distributor and thermostat housing area.

It's confirmed: it HAS TO BE there.

Look closely. Maybe if it's not there it's because somebody took it off and plugged the hole...?

but if somebody plugged the hole, wouldn't there be a dangling harness? o.O

That's so odd.. I was wondering if it was in the manual but I never saw it.. sooo odd.. let me go look some more

Take the crankcase ventilation hose off and look underneath.
Maybe the sensor (or the dangling connector) is there and you can't see it.

Good idea. I'll try that soon. I don't know if I'll do it tonight.. but I'll try.

okay so I quickly took off a few hoses (the ones coming from the cold air intake) and didn't see anything. just so ya know...

so I really can't find it x.x.. it HAS to be there.. you've confirmed it multiple times.. now I'm really wondering what is going on in my engine bay..

the way the diagrams show it.. it should be right above the distributor, going down into the block, with the harness going straight down.

it should be easily noticeable... but it's not

If i don't get this by tomorrow.. you think it's safe to drive the car on a road trip? I am going to pick up the mtx for my my bp swap (kid on the forums sold me a kia sephia transmission with axles).. and i want to get it lol

It should be UNDER the distributor, to the right (the back of the car).

I don't know if the car would be safe to drive this way. That sensor tells the computer how hot the coolant is. If the computer gets a signal like the engine is overheating, it will shut down the engine, and won't restart until the "temperature" goes down. That means that, all of a sudden, you may be left with no brakes and no power steering, while in the middle of an expressway.
I would try to hitch a ride with someone else...

ack okay so tomorrow morning I'm looking more for it.. before I go i'll definitely find it.. and if it's under the distributor i may have overlooked it.. let me look some more when it's brighter out..

It shouldn't be right under it. What I meant is that it's lower in the head than the disty.

If you don't find it, take a good look at the wiring harness. Maybe they cut the wires off.

No I didn't, but I was told that this 1 wire sensor that goes right into the head (and is between the headers and ditsy/thermostat housing) is the sensor.

I haven't confirmed it yet, but I did look for any broken areas in the harness.. and there was none.

Ok belive it or not i have the same problem. 92 1.6L i looked and looked and looked there is NO sensor behind the dist.. No dangling harness or anything im clueless on where it can be...

Seems like it may be on the intake manifold right near the #1 injector with a green connector on it
