Timing The Distributor

Re: Timing The Distributor
They're twins. Instead of "ten and ten" or "grd and grd"
sometimes those funbags are just a little different. One's just slightly bigger than the other, or maybe sets a little differently than the other.
Ohh... but they're still fun to play with. I could play with them all day...
I love you, ten and grd...

Re: Timing The Distributor
just so everyone knows you do have electronic ignition. The computer will compensate 22 degrees either way or so. your cars at full throttle at 6500 are timed too about 32 degrees advanced. There is no need to advance or retard your timing, if you do you only adjust your base timing which will in tern take your total advance higher. the only reason to do this is if you change compression or make other serious changes to performance. eg.. turbo you will need to retard timing as to avoid premature ignition.
Re: Timing The Distributor
Just to let you guys know, at least for 95 and below models, you HAVE to set your ignition timing with the distributor. THIS IS NOT AN OPTION.
The car will still run advanced or retarded, but it will degrade performance and/or lifetime of your engine.
Even being on on 0 degrees will make your car run awful. Just awful.
sincerely,
- The guy who just timed his 93 ZE and 95 B6 wrong the first time and corrected it.
P.S. I know I have a long name. Don't judge me.
