Painting OEM euro h4 headlamp housings

well I finally got around to putting the glass back on the housings... I made sure there was no dust on the inside of the housing and I cleaned the back of the glass in case I had made fingerprints then I basically just put them back in the oven with the lense on the housing... used the same amounts of time and temperature I used at first to take them off...

Once they were good and hot I basically just went around the entire light and pressed it back into the groove... After that, I put the 4 clips back on and it seems like it is sealed correctly... I guess time will tell if they are sealed well or not... It's going to be at least another month or so before I can install them on my fast car - I'll update here with pics once I do!

Moon, would this be a good idea for the stock headlamps? Does it use the same system to reflect the light? Or does it use the actual housing to direct it? Plastic too foggy, the beam would become too weak?

No, in fact that would be the worst idea ever - USDM/CANADA 9004 housings use the entire housing to reflect light.

I guess here would be a good time to say:

DO NOT DO THIS PROCEDURE IF YOUR BULB TYPE IS 9004

it will only work on Euro/JDM mx-3 housings... I don't want anybody coming back with FAILED thread stories on how they can't see any light coming out of their headlights

hey the lights look dang good...i dont like the stock covers tho. if they were perfectly clear plastic/glass then they'd be awesome! none of that jagged stuff

well I didn't realize that I painted these lights almost exactly a year ago... I'm taking the black set apart again tonight to add LHD glass and the electromotors so this thread has been helpful for me once again...

I should get this in the faq since I see more and more people getting glass headlamps...

well I was super bummed... I broke the passenger side glass of my LHD glass set I am thankful it was not the driver's side of the LHD set at least

BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN REMOVING THE GLASS LENSES... sigh hopefuly no on else experiences this... I just was prying up too hard and it split... I should have been more patient and threw it back in the oven to let it get the tar flexible enough... oh well. I ended up using the RHD drivers side and the LHD drivers side so both headlights will be low and I lose my peripheals on the passenger side...
