What is this Metal piece (on my rear struts)

They are probably strut mounts for a Protege. They are shorter. I had the same problem with the shorter studs when I transfered the ZX2 S/R struts from my Protege to the MX3.

Wow.. I bet that is the problem with the short studs then >_>

Well, I guess i'm not going to get my struts from Advance now..

well now.. any way I can stop the rattling that that metal piece is causing? It does it all the time and it's annoying.. it ruins my good bass, and when i hit bumps it just.. gets annoying..

If that metal piece is rattling something isn't assembled properly. It should not move at all. IIRC the threaded part of the strut cylinder is keyed. Take off the top nut and that metal piece and make sure everything was put on properly and is torqued down to spec. Also, there should be a washer between the bolt and that metal piece.
