V6 ENGINE GURUS NEED HELP (noobs need not apply)

NEW PROBLEM Number 3 plug wire is no longer firing, I swapped the radiator plugged it all back up, looked for loose wires, none its just some how stopped firing......

i have the hei/blaster mod as well...

Soon to be 93 mazda mx-3 SE KLZE come and get it....

good night I'll try and figure out what happen thursday, i need to forget about this for awhile...

How did you test the #3 wire to see that its not firing? Did you pull the plug off the end of the spark plug and stick your tongue on it while cranking the engine?

cheap mans test, pull the plug wire, and put it to one of the bolts on the valve cover, and if it arcs its sparking, or you can just pull the plug wire, and listen for a constant arcing sound inside the plug cyl

Clip on a inductive timing light and pull the trigger while the engine is running.. watch the flashes for consistancy

UPDATE

Well the 3rd cyl was firing after all, seems like i may have an injector going out, no biggie i got 6 spares. As for the overheating issue, seems like there was a leak from the o-ring on the pipe on that connects to the thermastat housing. We put a new o-ring in, new thermastat, and did a pressure test, seems like it was holding pressure just fine. Justin did think at 1st that it might have a bad head gasket because there were bubbles appearing as we were watching it, but as we kept burping the system and filling it up with water, they dissapeared and the water level is staying up. So the problem Might be fixed, but we are not really sure yet, since like i've stated it will only overheat under load, and you have to do some driving for a good bit amount of time to see what happens. So tomarrow i will be taking her out for about an hour drive to see if i can get her to overheat again...

Update:

Ran the mx-3 hard today, Reving constantly to about 5k in most gears, basically driving like a bat out of hell, and putting some real force on the motor. Though i dont have AC i did push the button in and turn the fan on, this will still put a load onto the engine, as it causes the rpms to jump up to 1k.

Verdict

She didnt overheat at all, and seem to be running really good... Lets just hope it stays that way for awhile. I'll hopefully be picking up a DD early next week, going to go look at a 95 camry for the daily, not great to look at but there good reliable cars that get a decent amount for fuel.

Anyway I'll keep people posted...
