Cold air intake will interchange from B6 to BP. Exhaust is exactly the same minus the "header" (bolt patterns differ on the block)

suspension upgrades... lots of bushings are toast by this age. My current rear tranny mount is terrible. It's so floppy and useless.

BP TB will bolt right on, although the gains will be placebo. Comes with the BP anyway though. Make sure it comes from the right tranny though. 3 pin on a 5speed and 4pin on a 4 speed, and the Throtle Position Sensors don't interchange. Entire TB must be from the correct tranny-engine.

Put some bump in the trunk, thats always fun.

find it - scrap yards... engine importer if you're really feisty. It came in:

Mazda Protege GT 1.8 (up to 1998)
Ford Escort GT 1.8 (1991-????)
Merc Tracer LTS 1.8 (1991-????)
Kia Sephia 1.8
Some 323's had the turbo varient, GTR and GTX but you won't find those.

google "Mazda B engine" and wiki will have a list, I'm sure I've told you that already.

I had a heck of a time finding one around here. Took several months. I paid $300 as a ballpark figure. I've been quoted $600 as well, no chance I'd pay that. search for local scrap yards, call them all up... might have to come to Winnipeg, I noticed Brandon is scrapper deficient. If you can find out which VIN codes in those vehicles (8th digit is engine digit? I'm not sure) means the 1.8L BP, then Wesman can help you. I never figured it out.

Line up parts to replace if you've got a bit of money and want more reliability. Ebay w/pump and tbelt kit, oil pressure switch, thermostat plus sender/receiver units (get MX-3 sender for sure) new belts, cap and rotor, plugs and wires...a can of brake cleaner and engine paint... find a shop to clean up the head/valves...

The list could go on nearly forever until you've got a car like Shades. Depends on your budget, time, ability, desire...

im also from brandon btw. and westman has five mx3's that i saw last week, all have been hacked into pretty good for interior parst but most have the 1.8L and i saw one 4banger. is it possible to swap the four to the six without much difficulty? if not i say you take full advantage of the extra engine space and turbo/intercool/cold air the crap outta that thing.

Hey, I'm going to brandon this weekend :)

six to four and vice versa requires a donor car.

makes sense.
i saw a guy who converted his mx3 to rwd. is this conversion useles or does it make sense, i only ask because i thought that the rear would be to light to supply enough weight to the tires to get any real high speed traction.
this thing was loaded.
it had a 4banger wit turbo and intercooler, cold air and had relocated the batt to the rear. full catback exhaust like im talkin the works.
