I NOW HATE MAZDA WITH A PASSION!!
Just a recomendation... Try this for the 12$ it may cost you. Goto a car parts store and ask for a bottle of Lucas anti slip... And put it in your tranny fluid. i did that to a grand am at 120k miles, not only did it fix the problem ive tried to kill the car for another 40k miles and it just kept goign and going til one day it blew a headgasket as i was pounding on it on the way to work . It always blows up on the worse day....
Anyways... just put it in and drive it for a little. Although automatic transmissions suck anyways...

You never did tell us how many miles were on the car. That might have something to do with it. If the car was 700 bucks because it had 50 million lightyears on it, the rad leaked, and the tranny was full of sawdust, then you'll be hard pressed to get simpathy from anyone. It's a sad dilusion if you think a $700 Honda will last any longer at all.
Oh, and he has an RS, not a GS. BPT swap FTW!!!!!!!111one!

KLZE/KL31 ecu/Pacesetter headers/track pipe cat delete/2.5 inch custom exhaust out to fart pipe/warm air intake for now /Fidanza 9lbs flywheel/Stage 2 kevlar road racing clutch which still slips/stock wheels/BFG KDW-2 tires. Looks bone stock
There are those who claim to be street racers, and then there are those who claim the streets for themselves. I am not a street racer. I am a StreetSweeper.

Actually this is not 100% Correct. The ATX is made by JATCO which is whole owned by Mazda and Nissan before there was and Ford connection to either company. Mitshbishi joined thst joint venture and Ford also joint went they started to need FWD ATX for the North American models such as the Tempo and Tarus they were based on the Mazda design before change to a whole domestic design when they started to go to bigger displacement V-6's. The Windstar was last Ford Model that used a Mazda based ATX design which was a warranty nightmare. Ford has recently gones back to using JATCO CVT transmissions in there newer productsTunes67 wrote:Well if its an automatic.. dont hate mazda.. the damn things were designed by Ford. So thats who you should hate.

LOL....ur a special boy...
I bought my mx for 700can. I changed:
-Forward and trailing arms on the rear suspension both sides
-rear shocks and upper mounts
-rear solid and flex brakelines from the crossmember out
-Drum rears so - springkit, pads, drums, pistons
-ALL bearings
-Front shocks and upper mounts
-front rotors
-front calipers
-front pads
-front flex and solid lines
-upper and lower radiator mounts
-alternator
-belts
-all vaccume lines I saw fit to replave
-all fluids flushed and street-sport/race grade fluids in-place
-exhaust from the header back.. no res or cat. with a universal muffler
-tires
It also burned like a liter/1000km of oil...
Total cost before i had it registered and inspected was like $3200CAD...at the time i had no friends @ stores and got quite a few parts from the dealer...
In november I replaced the motor with a 50K-km Bp and it burns like .2L/6000KM - hard driven...and the clutch to a staftermarket one..

I recently got my 92 GS off of ebay. The auction described a great running car with 157k miles on it. I won the auction at $1,475. I live in southern PA and had to goto NH to pick it up. After the auction ended the guy told me I should tow it cuz the clutch is just starting to slip. Well I rented a uhaul trailor and we ended up pushing it onto the trailor cuz while it ran fine, it wouldn't go into gear. The guy knocked the price down to $1,100 and said it was either froze up or the clutch was gone(even though I knew if the clutch were worn out it'd go into gear even without using the clutch pedal). So I got it back and found the starter was on it's last leg, and then found that clutch slave cylider was shot. While I had a mechanic replace that he found the shift fork was also broke. So tommorow I'm towing the car to my parents house where I'm gonna pull the tranny with a friend and replace the fork and install a new clutch. Am I blaming Mazda? Heck no. I blame where the car came from. While I have reported the seller for misrepresentation, I know that this car has alot of potential.

good choice in keeping it...and if you do have anymore tranny problems find and parts car for anywhere up to 5 or 6 hundred dollars thats manual and take the clutch and tranny and everything you need out of it...just make sure the tranny's not sloppy and stuff first

Re: I NOW HATE MAZDA WITH A PASSION!!
look at what you've really spent and what you've got
car = 700
axles brakes and etc. = 585
new motor and install= 1013
radiator = 100
total = 2398
2398 for a mx-3 with a jspec motor in great condition low milage, brand new tires, brakes, axles, and radiator... and if you can do the work yourself another 600 you could have a nearly new trans with a good clutch so for around $3000 you'll have a great deal and a lot more reliable than a 1500 honda some one beat on that in a year or so you'll be spending a whole lot of money replacing things that you've already done on this car
i bought my first mx-3 for 1800 and spend another 2000 - 2500 over the next year fixing and improving things and if it hadn't been re-ended a couple of times would still be my main car and very reliable... glad to hear you are keeping the car sometimes you just need to put things in perspective
