Thank you all :D
Of course I will get new rims for her.
I will be a lot happier the day the engine starts up and I can take her for a spin. :)

I will keep my MX-3 and propably use it most at the track.

In my experience the Mx will now be neglected, not out of spite, but out of necessity :P

I know 4 guys who have or have had FD3S (like Macen`s), and two of them sold both of theirs after two rebuilds in about 1.5 years.

The third one is still in parts after some rebuilds.

The last one is working now I think, after 3 or 4 rebuilds in one year.
(He is now moving to Texas to work for a Rx7/wankel shop....)

I really love the lines and the look of the RX7 (newer model), but because of the engine I dont dare buy one. Not yet anyway.

Got about 160 miles each way to work every day, so I need something reliable (that doesnt screw me on mileage, hehehe).

But keep up the good work Macen, FD`s are very cool!
Just have to save up to a Veilside Fortune kit now then? :D

nice car! I bought a toyota 4runner from japan more that a year ago...right hand drive is definitely fun! Buying from japan is great cuz the cars come with really low km, no rust, and are actually well priced for what u get.

My brother is the largest toyota importer in Canada (other than Toyota itself). Mainly deals with trucks but also has a business importing bmw's and lexus' and such.

I will get flamed, but why not drop a lt1 in it, prob cheaper and will net more reliable horsepower. But the rotary would be great as well, when fixed of course.

There is a nice video on streetfire.net of a 3rd gen rx7 with a ls1 in it.

Like your mx3 as well.

I understand doing a v8 swap on a regular FD but this is a bathurst! It has to stay rotory

Yeah, it's sad that the engines break easily. I hope my will last after it has been rebuild with better Apex seals.

No, I'm gonna keep the stock look, just like I did with the MX-3.

PAT: Of course I will give you a ride if you dare to visit the country of polarbears. :p

Don't offer if you don't mean it! HAHAHA! I have relatives that live in Sweden and Pat and I might have to take a road trip...a long plane ride and a road trip to take you up on that offer.

I used to have a '93 R1 and as much as I loved it, its not worth the money at all. Its great while its running but that is not often enough. I bought it with a blown motor and after the rebuild it blew within the year. Save up alot of money to keep it running or you'll be without a whip.

I hope and think that it will run nice after the engine is repaired. The guy that is going to repair it is a professional and he will change the seals to better ones that will last.
I hope I will have luck with it.

I know that it isn't as reliable as the MX-3, but no turbo engines are.

nice car man. And we should shoot the guy who brought up the Ls1 swap....

But ya from the sound of it the guy will be going with 3mm apex seals and hopefully will do a good job, one word of advice, unless you know a Turner specializing in RX-7s stay away from moding it. I would keep it mostly stock. Tuning is the most important part of a rx7 and unless you have someone who can tune it you will blow up a couple engines in the process, they are delicate engines....

But then again, what other engine is 1.3L but can put out close to 800whp...

I have no plans getting a lot of hp out of it. I will let the guy port it and then let another guy that has great knowledge in tuning the Wankel engine map it.

The engine is now out. I put it in the trunk of my MX-3 and then went 220km to the guy that is going to do the repair.

:dunno: Bugs... Tisk, tisk. Thats what tuner-cars & hot-rods (where tunercars really originated!) are all about! Being different, standing out in a crowd...! IMO the Chev LS-1 swap is probably one of the easiest ways to acheive that ever popular goal with import cars, searching for torque, which an LS-1 has lots of... And I'm pretty sure (for those of you thinkin it must weigh a ton!) an LS-1 & 6-speed tranny only weighs 12lbs more than a stock 13B-tt & Mazda tranny...! Not to mention the one thing everyone knows (and some have hinted at!), that an LS-1 or LS-6 would be 3 times as reliable & 1/2 as cheap to fix...

LS-1/6 FD RX-7 = the sickness :!:

 Macen, you wouldnt be disappointed, thats for sure... Check out Hinsonsupecars-dot-com...! I'm hunting for a 'local' FC RX-7 & mid to late 90's LS1/6-speed combo...

I prefer the 13B-REW in my RX-7. :) It should have felt so wrong putting another engine in that car.
