Thanks to my brother I am an owner of a DOA MX-3. I tried to be nice and help him out with his disintegrating life ( due to drug addiction ) and it took him 3 days to grenade the tranny. Seems the clutch master cylinder was leaking so when the clutch would not disengage he would use the starter to get the car moving from a stop plus shifting straight. He drove until the starter came apart, showering chunks of the bendix housing into the bell housing. The chunks cracked the tranny housing plus chewed the clutch assy to pieces.
It's so frustrating....
Edit, got the car running again in September. Tranny, clutch, starter, and numerous bloody knuckles later the car is back on the road.

Past owner of a 1992 1.8L k8 GS mtx (my first *official* car as in bought, titled, and paid for myself) and current owner of a 1995 1.6L BP RS mtx (my second car bought middle of June '06). Love them despite all the jerks who make my life visible by hitting them, breaking into them, stealing them, and reversing into them!

I'm just beginning my MX-3 relationship. Found a beautiful little red '93 that runs great for a great price. I'm picking it up tomorrow, it's a V-6 5 speed. I recently joined this forum and have already found a wealth of information. Thanks a lot guys, and I hope I can contribute something of use some time
