Around the city i usually cruise at about 55kph in second gear
And if I'm just driving i usually don't shift until 4-5k. Mazdas are happy when they're wrung out... like nothing I've ever seen, really. My old Corolla used to HATE me... the engine would run just a hair rougher every time I finished revving the **** out of it.

only if your car is fast though...i've looked at alot of people reving the crap out of their engines (usually civics but not always) but not really going anywhere fast. all i can do is shake my head...

My ATX "shifts" at around 2k(rough and fast) or 1.75k(smooth and steady). Tonight I tried to rev it to 4k just to see what happens and it got upto 95mph so damn fast and the revs fell back to around 2.9k. Just my luck i passed a cop car at that moment and had to reduce speed and take the next exit. Luckily the cop decided i was not worth it and went his way. Anyway i cant imagine what would happen if i revved up to 6k .... The engine turned into a beast above 3k. If only this performance was available in low rpms city driving would be so much fun ....

If I'm really trying to get somewhere quickly I take it up to 6K no problem... but it's really hard on gas.
I usually shift between 4-5K...
