Well, here's an update on my 1992 MX-3 RS: 466,000 miles/749,955 km and still counting!
Here's a list of repairs with the corresponding mileage.
Replaced radiator at 230,000 miles/370,150 km
Replaced fuel pump and distributor at 375,000 miles/603,505 km
Replaced clutch at 425,000 miles/683,972 km
Replaced starter at 460,000 miles/740,299 km
Replaced alternator at 462,000 miles/743,518 km
All of the above were the original parts! In addition, I have replaced both front axles, all wheel bearings, and the original rotors and calipers.
I have NOT had to do any work on the engine or the transaxle - both are still in fine working condition.
I recently had a spin out and crashed my MX3 into the highway retaining wall. Fortunately, I was only going 35 mph due to the winter weather driving conditions when I lost control. The front end of the car is smashed as is the hood and driver side fender. Aside from the cosmetic damage, the car drives fine. [Amazingly]. My original goal was to get 500,000 miles/ 800,000 km out of this car before replacing it and it appears that I will achieve this goal.
