About the sensor too, I guess it isn't "broken" but it's not reading the proper temp anymore, does that happen often?

You should be able to test the sensor.. there should be a procedure in the online shop manual. And while its not uncommon for them to get out of tolerance.. its not a super frequent thing either. Slightly out of tolerance could cause it to transmit faulty data about the coolants actual temperature.. which could have adverse effects and not cause a code to be thrown. I would double check it though to be safe.. $128 for one is ridiculous though. You can get them at Napa for $30 or less. Cheers.

Im under the impression it was 128 installed. Is that a big job? must not be if they only charged that.

No.. its far simpler to do than the distributor.. unplug the wire from the sensor.. unscrew the sensor.. screw the new sensor in and plug the wire back in.. one of the easiest jobs there is. Thats why that $128 figure to do that job is a joke LOL

Considering that you are relatively inexperienced, so that will make you cautious and as such slower.. I would say maybe 2-3 hours tops. For someone thats used to knucklebusting on cars.. 20 minutes tops and thats assuming that they had problems breaking the bolts free ;) Cheers

...is it possible that the spark plugs were the whole problem...I went to the dealership, and they told me that it was "recommended" that I replace my distributor...so I came home, and before puttin it in...I just put in new spark plugs. The old ones were rusty, and had a little oil on them (I think I have a valve cover gasket leak or something, that's waht they said anyways, donno if I trust their opinion), so I put the new ones in, and the car works fantastic...

is this normal? Might it just be ok for a short time and screw up again? I'm confused

Very possible.. if those spark plugs hadnt been changed in a very long time.. they wouldnt be delivering the spark needed for your engine to run properly. A lot of spark plug manufacturers say that their spark plugs are good for 50,000 miles.. I have seen some that say 100,000 miles even. Thing is.. this is assuming that you check and adjust the gap as neccessary. Most people dont do this and their spark plugs wear out long before that advertised mileage. Just cause I hate having to bother regapping my plugs.. I replace my spark plugs once a year.. they are cheap and its easy to do. Best of luck.

its messing up again...it's not stalling, and its driveable..but it's puttering some, so don't wanna take the chance

I'm guessing I'm goin to try the distributor. I have a protege one...and it looks like its missing a plugin. According to the place I bought it from, tehy said it would work. Were they wrong?
