too much stress for me, Id rather work normal shift

I've worked all the shifts out there as well... All I have to say is 3rd sucks, and add that to 12 hour shifts, and you will have a heart attack.
Thats right... 12 hours a day, 6pm-6am every day of the week, then an 8 hour shift saturday... Sunday is free, but it's not like you can enjoy it at all.

Of course, being an Air Traffic Controller, I can empathize with the "hanger rats". It was a little easier from the comfort of the Control Tower watching the ground crews do their thing in all kinds of weather. But like you, we had to do rotational shifts - 2 days-2 evenings and 2 overnighters-days off and right back into it again. we have
2 days 2 nights then four off (12 Hours)
4 days then four off (12 Hours)
there are the "day workers" (8 hours)
2on, 2off, 3on, 2off, 2on, 3off. which what i do
( 12 hours )
except for "D" check's when we run the hanger
shift which is 6 days a week (12 hours) days and nights!
Safety is the number one concern by all means the other is
supplying service and hey you can only work on the planes
when they are not flying or being loaded hence wird hours i guess.
But when your tired you make mistakes but thats where all the
wrk by check's and QC checks and QCA checks come into play
as John has said HIGHLY regulated!!!! you can't fart with out someone
knowing!!!!

Ouch. Those 2 day shift rotations sound brutal. At least you get some decent streat of time off though. I used to do weekly rotations of 5 dayshifts then evening shifts and night shifts and that was like having a permanent deteriorating case of jet lag. Also did a stint of working midnight to noon 12 hr shifts. Both those schedules were gonna make me damn near psychotic. Evening shift (3-11p) was always my favorite. Leaves the day free and in a hospital anyway, it's the best shift to work IMO. Always plenty of other evening shift ppl to hang with after work too.

I go to work around 3:30am, and usually done between 6:30-7:30am, depending on the day. I also work 7 days a week. So it's an odd schedule. I enjoy not working a full 8-12 hour day.
I used to do the 3:30-12:00am schedule. It got to the point where I would sleep after work till I needed to get up before work, and all evening I was tired from oversleep. As long as I don't have to get up at 5am in the morning for an 8 hour shift, I'm good. That sucks.
