I looked at it today and it seems to be welded on, don't some RS's come with ABS? could i dut my bracket off my old strut and weld to the new one?

Your best bet is probably the ford ZX2 struts. For $150 a set you can't beat them.

The ZX2 struts work on all RS/GS,protege & escort models. The exact years I don't know off the top of my head but i think its something like 90-98.

I have heard of people zip tying the abs wires to the strut housing. I wouldn't weld them. The inside of the strut is the sealing surface for the strut piston. Any distortion or burn through will ruint the strut.

I'm not sure how well it will work with those aftermarket tires you have but I do know that with my stock size tires mid 20's equals softer ride mid thirties and the ride is firmer and at 40 it feel like flinstones car. Keep in mind that this also effects the tires life.

Yeah i have tried that and still am having a pretty bumpy ride on with the set up i have on right now. Plus i know my struts are bad because i have had to car for 2 years now and my brother had it before me and neither one of us has replaced them. So is there any particular struts i can buy to make a softer ride?

so one last question, are the coild and strut the same on a RS than on a GS, one would think the RS sturt is not as rigid.
