Hmm, then the differences between the bG and ec chassis must be the dynamic camber change, because none of the Protege/Escort guys can get that much. Without the camber bolts, i was stuck at -.6 degree all around. that was only dropped ~1", but theres not much difference with a strut suspension.

ok, I finally found the local company who sells those bolts. They gave me a dealer price $9 per bolt.
I put them on last night, and will get it aligned in couple of days.

Jesse,
There definitly is a big difference between the protege/escort chassis and the mx3. I had the tokico zx2 s/r struts with arospeed springs (approx 2" drop) and had no camber issues on my escort. After my escort got wrecked I transfered the exact suspension over to my mx3, resulting in about 3 deg neg rear camber and 2 in the front. I figured it was because of the upper strut mount (i should have used the ones from the mx3).
Those of you experiencing camber problems, are you using struts for the protege/escort? It could be possible that the angle between the lower mounting bolts and the strut body is different for the protege/escort than and the mx3. You can adjust front camber and caster by rotating the upper strut mount. The rubber nipple on the upper strut mount bushing indicates its position. When it is closest to the engine, you can get more negative camber. When it is toward the rear of the car you have more caster...and so on. So camber bolts are only necessary in the rear. If you don't want to mail order them you can get them at NAPA. but they are more expensive...just order them from the place Jesse is talking about.
-Sam
92 Mx-3
p.s. Jesse, sorry to hear about the car. It is good that you are sort of ok. I had a friend that fell asleep at the wheel and hit a tree...he couldn't walk for about three months. By the way...did you make it to nationals this year? I couldn't make enough races to get enough points...being back and forth between school and co-op. You getting another pro?

The protege guys using MX-3 struts cant get any more/less static camber than they can with protege struts. Its gotta be in the actual geometry of the LCAs or something. Thats the only difference i even know about.
And Sam, yeah, i made it to Nationals this year. I drove like crap, and ended up 30th out of 49 drivers in STS. But no, im not planning on getting another protege as a replacement. I'll hopefully be running in E-stock next year
Enough points? for what? you only have to attend one national or divisional event...or just pay an extra fee to enter Nationals. There was a MX-3 GS in H-stock....only ~.2 seconds out of the trophies.
[ October 09, 2002: Message edited by: ProtegeSTS ]
